I said I would never buy a milk float and now I've only been and done it and have to admit I love it.
Mi's not happy when I put my foot down and she gets thrown back in the seat.

Our friend bought a new one in 2023 put it in p/ex last week and was allowed £8,000 trade in, he said he lost a lot more than any other car he had owned😳
That's very low MG's are supposed to hold there value better that other EV's.
This one's 7 months old 1600 miles got it from Motorpoint paid £13½k less than current list.

Last car we had 13 years only use the car as a shopping trolly, if I keep this ones 10 years I'll be 85 so not really bothered about depreciation.

We did the same Lenny, went to test drive the new MGS5 Trophy in Dynamic Red last month, now waiting for it to be delivered this month.

We had a drive in an MG4 a couple of weeks couldn't believe how nice they are to drive.

All those deals dealers are advertising with £8k - £10k off in the small print it says Affinity terms apply, that means you have to be a government employee to get the deal. Best the dealer would give me was £3.5k.
Same day we had the test drive this MG4 Trophy came up on line far cheaper than any dealer, only 7 months old and the colour the boss wanted & £400 more for my car than MG dealer offered.

Price sounds about right for the age he traded it in for a petrol car though another MG

It's this and the pennys per mile which is why most people had them. Makes a huge difference to econmoics with the cost per mile compared with diesel too. Makes things like us driving to Costco more of a monthly trip instead of Quarterly as it was with our old Diesel.

Are you also joining us in the Octopus cult for the 2p a mile driving then? (Octopus Intelligent now offers cheap fixed rates too + 7p anytime charging as well as overnight every night).

The problem we are having at the moment is get the home charge point fitted.
The local electrician that does solar and EV charge points came and did a survey and 3 weeks later still has not qoted, the electrician the fitted our neighbours EV charge point has still not quoted after a week and a half and the only quote we have got so far, reckons that the job will take 6 hours, well if he takes that long then he is crap at his job as our install should be a walk in the park, so it looks like we might be charging on a "Granny" lead for a while.

Car is only used as a shopping trolly so not bothering to fit EV charger.
We are with Octopus on Economy 7 tariff but our old fashioned timer is out so we get off peak during the day which saves us quite a bit.

Charging at 15p kw/h still only costs £3.25 to £3.80 per 100 miles depending on miles per kw, compared to £18 in the petrol car.

I thought you would do that yourself.
I'm not going to bother we don't do enough miles to justify the cost even for DIY.

Love that colour Lenny I think.ive hott a spare set of mats for an MG if you need any

Quit a bit.

The EV charger would likely be beneficial if you game the charging.
Whole house gets the 7p rates at moment whenever on charging. Some of us may slow the chargers to get more 7p hours.

(ie, considerably cheaper than economy 7 even with a wonky meter). Equally the itming signals for wonky meters due to turn off this year, and likely a forced change for you this summer anyhow.

We plugged in the car today as it was sunny and pretty much guaranteed the entire house would charge in day instead of overnight, meaning 20 of the 24 hours at 7p, allowing us to do all the chores before we depart in motorhome tmrw for the weekend (washing, dishes, even water heating was on, usage of > 14kwh per hour). Motorhome was also chilling down the fridge, using lots of leccy!

If you want the cheap charging option that still qualifies for the cheap rate, try to find a Commando Ohme Go cable on sale (these are 32A commando to EV charge cables, just needs a £50 commando socket installed + a PEN fault device (if you don't ignore this) at £130 or so.

I'll look into it but would mean spending £400 on a charger and more work for me installing it.

Is your old fashioned timer an electro-mechanical clock by any chance Lenny HB?

I got my entire setup for sub £300. With no subsidy. As the bloody installers refuse to install over a pathway on a private road (with no public footpath). (Pathway is on my own property). It's because of it being partial access to another property (who also have their own priavte pathway, just they could also use mine. But in the regs thats not allowed as going over a pavement apparently.

Ohme Go cables were being sold for sub £200 on ebay 2 years ago. May have increased more, but I've been charging on mine since 2020. It's a cheap hack way of doing it, you can get Chinese copy clone ones (that don't qualify for the decent Octopus tariff) for £160 new (or less via aliexpress). If nothign else it's a cheap way of getting a 32A charge in (so 10 hour instead of 28 hour charge). if you need that!
