Just had 3 nights in Newcastleton on a club affiliated site. I think it was £25 a night (not really sure) but one of the best sites we have stayed on and spotlessly clean. Very quiet and an easy level walk into the village - not that there is much there, two local shops (SPAR and CostCutter), a museum, a community owned fuel station (electric recharge points out of order last week) and at least one cafe (Olive Tree, highly recommended).

The showers were huge, even bigger than we have at home and, as I said, spotless.

Another year ticks round where we've barely used our CAMC subscription.....one modestly discounted channel crossing. We just do not spend time in the UK. Next 12 months? Jan- Feb, Spain? April-June Germany, Austria, Czechia. Autumn Portugal?
So I've cancelled renewal.

Can’t believe the time spent by people saying the CAMC are useless too expensive and they won’t pay the membership fees, don’t join and enjoy where you do go and let the current members enjoy it not being quite as busy hopefully!

Can’t believe that anyone here would be surprised that some members might want to discuss it. After all it’s a Motorhome Forum, those wedded loyally to CAMC can easily tune out - you’re absolutely welcome to my pitch.

I cannot understand why you bitch about CAMC and do not take the opportunity to do something about it by going to the AGM. It is the ideal platform to voice your issues face to face and get some answers.

£35 is ok many other sites are in that ball park. Anything over £40 is a big no.

CAMC have more than 1000000 members according to google so not renewing your membership will achieve nothing. The only way to have any chance of change is from being a member and trying to get elected as a representative.

With due respect. We don’t join and pay for membership to then run the place. I know some do but not us. Bless those that do make the effort to represent the members but not everyone who has a problem with the club can or should put themselves up for election.
There are paid employees who should be doing the right thing for the members.

I’ll get me coat……..

Me neither, not interested in Club politics or attending AGMs, they’re just jollies for the club faithful and vested interests - peeing in the wind.

I need to remember about CAMC and UK prices in general. After cheap park ups in Germany, paying around 10 euros in Bosnia I arrive in Croatia yesterday feeling depressed about having to pay 25 Euros (inc. ACSI card).

However, this is on the sea front, heated swimming pool, electric, water on pitch, luxury toilet/shower blocks, washing machines, dryers, super fast WiFi. 5 mins to a lovely old town, etc

(Pity the weather turned today :( )

Not everyone has an ACSI card.

Well, it's a no brainer if you use a campsite more than one night off season.

I also remain a member for the CLs. I have noticed lately that they are getting a bit pricey with £25/£30 not being uncommon and £20/22 now appears the norm for new CLs. The CL I'm on now is £22 with EHU and is nothing special. Realistically I would expect, even allowing for inflation etc., that a sensible price for what is provided to be no more than £16/£18. I am seeking out ever more more 'wild camping' spots as time progresses. It certainly doesn't encourage staying in the UK for trips.
Many CLs are also increas Prices and offering nothing more Han a plot of grass, filthy showers and toilets and located in the middle of nowhere. About equivalent to using car parks all the time but they charge.

But being in the middle of nowhere for some of us is where we want to be!

50-60 Euro's....How Much!

The impression I get from others on here, Spain is supposed to be cheap?
Not visited Spain much, so what do I know? 🤔
Must be Aug prices,, BUSBY.

A lad who left the rally to seek other options in Benidorm returned 10 days later. He could not rebook through the CAMC as it was weekend. He paid €47 per night for 2 nights.

Not everyone has an ACSI card.
Still plenty of Spanish non ACSI for under 25 euros plus excellent beach side Camperstops for under 20 euros,,,,BUSBY..

I tried to book a Travelodge for mid week - room only £71 upwards.

The £25 or £35 for a club site is a bargain compared to that!
This I beleive is why so many newcomers to UK campsites are happy to pay these prices and will continue to do so every year.
Complaining about these rip of price increases is a complete waste of time I.M.O.
Untill those leaving the club outweigh those joining, prices will continue to increase. Much better to use Europe.

Would go abroad if we could but family circumstances and our own health (no insurance plus hospital appointments with only a couple of hours notice at times) prevent that.

Understood. There will be those who are restricted to the UK. However, I strongly suspect the vast majority could use Europe and if they dipped their toe in the water, would never look back. Each to their own for sure but one thing in my mind is certain. UK campsite users get ripped off something terrible.

Be given the floor to criticise or pose a controversial question to CAMC at the AGM? Ooh look, an aeronautical ungulate!
