We've had a busy wee day today .

After lunch and letting the dogs have a wee run on titanic beach

I headed in to el jadida , parked up in the street for an hour or so and had a walk around the old Portuguese walled town.

It has a kind of rustic charm about it , some nice old buildings and again a few shops if I had a house I could easily spend a fortune in ...there is benefits to being a van dweller with no place to put ornaments etc. But later on this trip I may well pick up some materials and throws for my vario build as I'll be going for a rustic , beach shack come shabby chic style interior.

Didn't really want to stay in el jadida so we headed off again down the coast road , stopped and bought too many bananas 18 and a dozen apples from another fruit stall ... grand total 32dh

Gave away a box of weird cakes I bought the other day to a group of school kids who were delighted....I didn't like them , they were deep fried something but tasted strange , like the oil had fried fish or something beforehand. Buy the school kids loved them 🤣🤣

Couldn't understand them but jeeso they all have to walk some distance to school, I must have passed 50 or 60 kids over a 5 or 6 mile stretch all trudging along

So we are now parked in oulidia , found a nice wee parkup on the seafront with a cracking view and only local fisherman etc . The guarded parking looks busy , about 40 vans on it ...I'm just myself 😁 had a wee walk around the beach its very beautiful here

The constant challenge in Morocco is being left in peace, the places I would normally choose to park overnight seem to be impossible here , you read the reviews on park4night for out of the way places and nearly every one of those mention 3am visits from self appointed police moving you on claiming it to be unsafe , they then encourage the folk to go on to a campsite or guardian parking, the problem being even on the campsites or guardian parking you don't get any peace. The parking is crammed , there's constantly people trying to sell you something or in many cases just asking for money. It's quite frustrating, I don't mind the £3 a night so much if I had some space and some peace .

And I'm not convinced they are any safer either . I've 3 dogs ...and a baseball bat lol , I'm perfectly safe.

This lovely spot I'm parked up at tonight, that's now the 3rd time someone has been knocking at the door , I've simply ignored it each time as I know it's either some pest trying to charge me to park here but isn't bothering any of the folk in the cars , or it's someone trying to sell me something I don't want or someone claiming I can't park here.

Ela has scared them off each time with a little assistance from jade.

I do hope it's different when I go inland to the mountain and desert areas as it gets tiring

Imagine a revolving door of double glazing salesmen and you'll get what I mean.

Folk that like campsites and aires etc probably won't get it but I'm used to remote places or carparks no one gives a stuff about .

I think, I think, Tam has his mojo back :party2:
Yes there's some annoyances but you're in Africa now, not Europe
Overall I'm enjoying it , it's just different and a little harder work to find a nice parkup spot.

I'm doing better than a friend of mine who just had his wallet and phone pickpocketted in fes yesterday, all his cards , 2500dh in cash and an iPhone gone in a blink .

I’ve been watching Itchyboots riding in Morocco and she’s passed through some markets and surprising how many Vario’s are still used.
It's all merc vans over here ..hundreds of them , mostly the smaller 207 , 307 varieties but a few bigger ones here and there. All mid 80 - early 90's models .

But more old cars than new I'd say too

No Rolex & iPad...
Seriously, got to be cautious.
When I was working, especially in South America, told to dress like a homeless person, have $10 in a wallet, cards & cash secreted elsewhere

I'm surprised to be honest as he is a travel journalist blogger so I thought he'd be wiser. I don't have anything in my back pockets.

He said it was a guy who claimed to be a guide

Just as stupid carrying things in your back pocket as carrying stuff in a back pack. In India I walked through a market and thieves were tugging at it trying to open the zip in the end I took it off and carried it in my arms and ran out of the area.

Same in most third world countries they see you as the rich westerner.

In both India & Spain I've had security guards tell me to wear my rucksack on my front.

I can't believe how many oranges that man sold me yesterday .... even if I eat 3 a day which I normally do I have enough to last nearly 3 weeks lol. Between oranges , water. Dog and cat food I think I'm carrying an extra 100kg 🤣🤣
Stick 'em in the fridge and they'll last for ages ... (y) ... we had a load in Spain and thought they'd keep in the garage but they weren't next time we stuck them in the fridge and they lasted weeks.

Met this little sweetheart this morning , we were out for walkies and she ran over tail wagging like crazy and started rubbing against my leg for affection , she then followed us back to the camper. I got some food and water out for her but she was more interested in a cuddle . But hopefully she will have eaten once we left .. apologies for the repetitiveness and the doggy baby talk in the video lol , conversation is difficult with dogs
