Hi all, sorry yes it's a toilet thread.

Bought a spare thetford cassette in preparation for 2 weeks round Scotland in a couple of weeks to give us more time between sites etc.

However, for those of you that carry a full cassette what do you use to store it in "just in case" I mean a standard bin bags not going to be up to the job I imagine?

For transportation, use a Tesco(other brands are available) plastic, 'under bed' box. For sneaky carrying to available WC's, an IKEA bag, again, other carrying devices MAY be available.

Black bin bag then in an old ruck sack. Jobbie done as a Billy Connolly would say.

We have a clear plastic crate that it fits perfectly in with enough space on top for other bits and bobs (trolley etc), we also have a large black waterproof bag which it can be carried in to/from disposal points if necessary. If you haven't got a locker with a big enough aperture to put a crate in then a good waterproof bag, such as one meant for water sports, would do the trick but I'd still put it in a strong rubble bag first 'just' in case!

I use a sports holdall big enough to also hold some antibacterial spray and a couple of bottles of water so I carry it and empty and rinse it in a public toilet if necessary

Forgot to say, a shopping trolley works well (not the supermarket type silly!) as the cassette can be heavy if you have to take it a distance but make sure you get one big enough for the cassette to be put in and taken out easily (still use a rubble bag too), at least if you go in a loo with that it's not so likely to attract attention as a large sports bag might.

Ahhh Ikea bag for sneaking it into public WCs I assume?
I'd not though of that to be honest as we're planning on sites every 3-5 days for a shower etc anyway.

I made a mounting to store our spare cassette under our MH
I dont have time for that I don't think as I'll be on my way next Saturday via the Sister in laws for her 60th.
However Id be interested to know how you did this for future trips, I have a low alko chassis though so wonder if it's doable?
You got any pics. ?

The under floor storage or ok but when you need to take one out and put one in it’s a case of laying on the ground not nice if it’s raining.
and the cassette is a sealed thing it shouldn’t leak if left in a garage

That's ok if you have a garage, nearest I have is the under bed storage :-/ And I'd still have to put it in another box just in case anyway.
I get the inconvenience of lying down to swap the cassettes but don't mind that too much, rather suffer that mild inconvenience for the peace of mind.

What's wrong with the shower in your van?

Oh yes they do, not much holding the flap in place. Just make shure when storing a full one, it's not completely full. How do I know?

I don't have to lay down to change ours (y) , I was only laying down to get the distance from the cassette for the photo, plus great if you have a garage, but not everyone has, like us.
