New Fiat due out soon so most manufacturers are not developing new models on Fiat. It will probably All change next year.

I think there is more to it than just that. My impression is that the MH market is big, largely owned by Fiat and Mercedes has made a very well executed attack on Fiat. I wish the best to Fiat with their new model but they have a big fight on their hands.

Any of these there Martin? It has Cartier badge on it, Corsican plates,View attachment 328743 pulled onto the aire yesterday, and yes double drive on the back.
“Cartier” that sounds expensive ? not heard of them but there is so much stuff here we will never see it all especially if we don’t get out of hall 5?

I got that wrong, I noticed today most Fiat vans are on the new Fiat chassis including Hymers. It's not obvious as even if you look at them on the Fiat stand there are no styling differences inside or out. The difference is underneath with the new Euro 6d engine & auto gearbox. The giveaway is the gear leaver on the auto box.

Did you see any vans with wall mounted washing machines ?
Saw one somewhere Robert but can’t remember where, seen them in the past in a Morelo Palace garage Daewoo machine I think.

Didn’t take much notice as I don’t want to waste valuable garage space with washing machine?

I have read somewhere that the new Fiat auto is a 9 speed. Don’t know if it’s a ZF box or what ?

Had the tour of the Hymer 4x4 Concept van, very unlikely it will ever be brought into production but a lot of ideas will work there way throught to production vans.

The green paint developed by BASF has minerals in it that reduce heat transfer by 20°.
Everything on the hab side is electric, hob, BBQ, heating, fridge.
The floor is resin mineral composition looks like concrete, shower room had slate tiles backed with foam.
The fridge is two large slide out draws.
The sides of the pop up are blown up with air for insulation.
The wheel arch trims are a soft plastic produced on a 3D printer.
Very interesting vehicle, if they were for sale I think I could be tempted.

Great photos.

As you say, it doesn’t look likely that they could put the vehicle as it is now into production.

I think it looks fantastic but some questions come to mind... what about carrying bikes and storage in general? How would you power all electric hab equipment? The only ways I can think of would require a generator. Unless of course you only travel in sunny environments, long distances or be on sites with hook up.

Well that's a first, the first time we have been to Caravan Salon and not bought a new van. :D

That was probably the only way to make sure you could go again :)

That Hymer is another concept vehicle that doesn't bear too much scrutiny :( but grabs a bit of attention which I suppose is the real aim .

I had an interesting conversation (to me anyway) yesterday about the various foams used in Motorhomes, the photo below shows the blue XPS or styrofoam and also polystyrene,

FBFF1195-3F65-4EE9-8B43-8D0A6F40FB1C.jpeg

The foam panels are sealed into the glass tank and filled with water in the centre, you can see that through the polystyrene the water level has equalised, even more interesting though was a demonstration of how the various foams XPS, polystyrene and PU pick up water from a humid atmosphere with the second two holding a lot of moisture while the blue XPS closes cell styrofoam remained bone dry.

What that says is if you get a bit of a leak in a van with PU or polystyrene foam it will hold the moisture and promote rot while the blue XPS will remain inert.

Interesting, so did they say who uses the leaky stuff?
