Anyone who has used an aire which needs a male to male connector might have come across one where the water comes gushing out as soon as the adaptor is inserted - I've got very wet doing this! :)

The answer is a connector with a tap and I've just ordered one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/release-HOZELOCK-COMPATIBLE-DELIVERY-BRADAS®/dp/B00VIGJ1RI

It comes as a pack of two so an instant spare. :)
how is it they dont make a female to female connector? need one often in the garden but always end up having to use two hose connectors with a bit of hose inbetween, male to male are ten a penny but no way can i find a double ended female.(n)(n):(

A good mate would let me have it
If we ever meet you can have it* because when I need the spare one I doubt I'll be able to remember where I it is stored. I will have "put it somewhere safe" and never to be seen again. :)

*If I can find it. :)

Am I missing something? I just put the connector into the hose first, and then into the aire outlet.

Useful though expensive I have made up one with two adapters and 6" of hose so I will just continue using that for now.

A few water points I've come across needing this sort of connector have a very high water pressure and no way of reducing the flow. Hopefully, the tap will help a bit.

Can't do that with the Aire water connector @DBK is referring to. No button and no tap. Just a metal female connector sticking out usually horizontally. To get any water out of it you have to stick a male connector into it which automatically switches the water on. Good in principle but it does tend to splash everybody within a 6 foot radius both when coupling and uncoupling.

Never come across one so probably been lucky - although they do take various fittings i've always got away with filling the watering can so have always stuck with easy option

How do you propose joining two things with a hole in them?

Use two tap connectors and a male to male
