Hi,

The other day I thought to try to play a DVD in my 32" TV's DVD player but the UK disks (I tried a few) don't work in them, I tried the one in the bedroom too. No go. I reckon its a DVD Region issue.

Has anyone else tried this and had the same issue?

What make are the TVs
Could be a region hack for them.

I thought all the players sold were multi region these days
Where did you buy the van? If UK back to the dealer to sort, if Germany & it plays German ones you are stuffed.

They are Alphatronics I think Peter. Doesn't a menu option give you language change "Sprache"

Indeed they are beloved wise one; however, putting them into German kind of misses the point, no?

Surely, as I don't speak German I won't understand the menus to play the DVD, will I?

Sorry I did not mean put it into German, but into English if it was in German, under Sprache on the DVD menu? Probably not then?

The menus are already in English but there needs to be a way to either swap out the DVD module mounted in the TV with a UK region compliant one or just say; it doesn't matter, if I wanted to watch TV all day, I should have stayed at home, maybe? I can still stream from the PC / internet or play mp4's instead so no big deal; just annoying (a little)

I do wonder why they insist on using these Alphatronics TV's anyway. They're really expensive (compared to any decent brand of standard TV) I suppose its because they operate at 12v too but honestly, how many people use them off a 12v battery these days? Or am I totally wrong?

I wonder if anyone has swapped them out for a nice OLED panel? I might look into that after the expiry of my warranty.

We don’t have an Alphatronics TV but we do have Avtex and Antarion ( French TV) both with built in DVD players and run both off 12v.

Ours are Alphatronics and they work fine with DVD's. Just a thought... are your DVDs blueray?

What’s a DVD?

Is it like a video tape of something?

;)

CLUE - Made in Germany like your Morelo.

Why don't you give Premium a bell, Im sure its just a settings change.

UK and Europe are both Region 2 as far as DVDs are concerned, so the TV must be set to another region in order to have a problem. It may have defaulted to Region 1 (US) on installation and never been changed. On older DVD players, you could often change the Region a specific number of times before it was locked. There ought to be a setting buried somewhere to allow a change.

I know it's a stupid question and I apologise but have you got the DVD the right way up? On both the TV in our van (an odd make - Denson) and on the canal boat in which we have a share (Cello TV), the DVD has to be inserted in a counter-intuitive fashion or it doesn't play. I seem to remember it is with the label to the rear, data side to the front but I tend to get it wrong before I get it right, as we don't play DVDs enough on either TV to get the habit.

We made the mistake of trying to play bluray discs on Avtex, simple mistake.

Ah, you didn't splash out on the optional live-in butler then ....:D

Thanks everyone for the info and advice.

I know they are DVD's as it says so on it and do know the difference between them and Blue-ray.
I will look closely at the settings menu as I'm pretty sure I have it in the right way around and then that's all it can be.

I don't plan to use it much but would be nice to have it working the way it should
