trying to find a sandwich maker or similiar

We have a single gas hob, recently put in a 600w pure sine inverter (the biggest I could afford), I'm looking for a low wattage sandwich maker or mini grill, any ideas where and what to get ?

I have a 750 watt one from Intermarche...

(You can make toasted sandwiches on your single gas ring with a Double Skillet.)

No need, just make a sandwich as usual then ‘dry fry’ in a shallow pan over a medium heat for a few minutes each side.

You can butter outside first if you wish but then the sandwich will actually taste a bit like fried bread!

Doubt if you will find one that will work off a 600 watt inverter.

Look up Ridgemonkey sandwich toaster. I’ve used one for a number of years when Carp fishing and there’s always one in the van.

I would second a double skillet they are the best thing for a van we've done loads of different things in one pizza, fry ups, toasties and easy to keep clean.

We have bought one of these Ridgeways after seeing another Funsters use one, brilliant. Watch out for size though, the first one we ordered was very small, so we ordered the bigger one, comes in a nice storage case too.

A bit late now but a sandwich maker does not need a pure sine wave. Very few things do actually and a modified square wave one is cheaper.

Our Ridgemonkey is a great bit of kit. As well as doing a spanking toasted sandwich we use it for frying bacon, sausages and the like that would splatter fat every where in an open frying pan.

its funky and also reminds me of the one my mum had in the 60's. it was always fun watching one of my mates screaming as he bit into a toasted jam sandwich for the first time and the molten lava ran down his chin

I. Use a small George Forman, the two portion one come s in at 600w. I use some grease proof paper to contain the fillings. Very easy to clean, my sandwich maker was a sod to clean, and versatile that can grill chicken or burgers etc too.

Use EHU for heating/cooking, not your batteries.
If not on EHU, use gas unless you don't care about battery life.

After reading this thread i bought a Diablo from Amazon (the link in this thread). It's chuffing great !!!

It almost hasn't been put away since it arrived, just the perfect thing to create a lunch time snack for some fussy children that are bored with "all other foods".

Will be ordering one for the van as well.

This forum still costs me a small fortune though
