Yesterday we left Zadar and headed north along Route 8, the dramatic coast road which is sandwiched between the sea and the mountains. The adventure of the road was added to by gale force winds which blew in just as we left Zadar.

The route north was peppered with little sea side villages, each one seemed to have a camperstop, often attached to a restaurant or hotel.

We were sorely tempted to stop, but the gale force winds were set to blow for the rest of the day.

We crossed the toll bridge onto Krk and drove towards Camping Krk in the south of the island. Sadly when we got there we found that the site was completely full, as was the other large site in the town. Campercontact came to the rescue and lead us to a small camperstop just above the town, with terraced pitches, many with sea views (ref 47413)
image.jpeg

As well as having a great little restaurant, the site owners make their own wine and olive oil.

After a day resting in the shade, we've walked the short distance into Krk town, with it's busy marina and rabbit warren of old houses, gift shops and smart restaurants.

As I write this, we're sat here enjoying a beer, deciding where to go for dinner.

This morning we continued our journey northwards to Rovinj

image.jpeg

image.jpeg

Rovinj is yet another beautiful coastal town, however the campsite failed the @Lenny HB test, as the pitches were cramped and overcrowded.
Then tried Ulika as suggested by @worky - thanks Clyde. Sadly no co-ordinates on their website and they didn't answer the phone when we tried to call them - maybe next time.
Camper Contact led us to a car park within 5 minutes walk of the town, which had dump facilities and allowed overnight parking. We stayed long enough for a good walk round and a fantastic lunch of Roast Kid Goat on a bed of Veggies)
image.jpeg

Best meal we've had in Croatia - ''twas yummy - but decided to move on as it would have been too noisy to stay in the car park at night

Instead we've driven up the coast to Novigrad and have secured ourselves a good pitch at Camping Serena, ref 19235 which had large pitches, and ours is by the sea !

Decided to have a few days soaking up the sun and relaxing before we head home next week.

Sat here enjoying another wonderful sunset in Croatia

You can't possibly be on your way back soon you've only just gone ... And ... We've not had enough "how much did it cost" brain stretching exercises. You'll have to surpass yourselves in your last week .
And there's been no handbag or shoe purchases either

We didn't get to Rovinj Robert, but Camping Serena at Novigrad was our first stop on the way down. We really liked it there. (y)

Don't rush back, as the weather here is sh.. sh.. awful, however, summer returns here on Tuesday. When are you due to hit Blighty's shores?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We're due to cross the channel next Saturday Jock - thought we'd have a 2 days at Lake Isseo on the way back - which gives us 4 days left in Croatia
