nice day for repairs (1 Viewer)

nice sunny day today so i thought id do a few little jobs around the van....

first job was grease the alko rear axle..........
now trying to jack up 2.5t on a trolley jack should be easy, no its not.....
had to get the jack UNDER the van...ALLof it
that left me with about 1ft of handle swing but not enough leverage/strength laid on me back to swing it a foot.
took 15mins to jack up one side...axle stands under, then the other side
same palava only to find the axle had been looked after.....it didnt need greasing.only got two pumps of the gun and it was full.:thumb:


moved on to the gas locker next....time to replace the gas pigtail.
this made the day a little easier....straight swap.:thumb:


next job....find out why the sink was soooo slow emptying.
i knew it wasnt the pipework underneath as id already checked that.
unscrewed the sink and lifted it a bit to have a look.
i noticed the flexy pipe from the sink went uphill before dropping through the floor,....theres the problem, not enough weight of water in the sink to push it uphill., surely swift know water dont flow uphill.
great...i'll lower the pipe and reclip it so removed the flexy and the water pipes, no probs there.
then i found the plughole was loose so gave it a nip to tighten it...you guessed it....cracked the bloody thingoh:but didnt know 'til id put it all back together and ran water into it. water running down the back of the fridge and through the floor vents. pull it all to pieces again.
no chance of getting one today so bodgers-head fitted.
luckily it has two plugholes, one for the main sink and one for the drainer.
solution...swap 'em.
bit of silicon inside the broken one and refit both.
the sink now empties as it should. :thumb::thumb:

all in all a good day but i wish id gone for a bikeride instead.....

hi there all,took our dorado and checked the tyre pressures,they were miles out,lowest one was 50psi and should be 80psi it is one area which a lot of people overlook but it is very important.then we took it and fueled up ready for newark next weekend :thumb:tomorrow we are going to give it a good wash and polish.hard old life with an rv aint it regards brian

After some ahem, toilet issues.. I spent the afternoon rebuilding my VFR800 as I am fed up of people racing past the farm on their bikes having fun

its done and ready for a roadtest! but its dark and cold now...

that was one of the little, calmdown and lower yer blood pressure, jobs.

werent too bad....both rears at 60psi...should be 65, and one front at 55, one at 57...should be 61psi. new spare was 50psi but i never checked that after it was fitted so may have been the garage not inflating enough or may have lost a bit but its 65 now!

it had crossed my mind......but i knew the other things HAD to be done for newark.....just my luck to snap an axle torsion bar or some other stupid mishap.
or worse still...have a sink full of water and nowhere for it to go.

apart from that im going to the pub tonight.:thumb:

Papajohn, half the point in greasing is to replace old grease with new.

If your's needed a couple of pumps, it was part empty, so you did a much more important job than you give yourself credit for.

On another point, have you got a carbon monoxide alarm?
If water can get out through your fridge vents, could CO get in that way?

as it happens i have a very efficient alarm fitted....:thumb:


what i should have said was water ran down the SIDE of the fridge and through the FLOOR vent next to the gas manifold in the the base cupboard.

The back of the fridge is sealed properly.:thumb:

and stopped of at the garage
just in time to watch the engine come out of its hidey hole
piston argued with no 4 valves
and went for a walk through the cylinder head
and the piston went with them
bummer
