GASLOW SYSTEM

I am currently investigating getting the Gasglow system fitted to my Autotrail Apache, I have been quoted £535 for 1 x 11 & 1 x 6 kg tanks plus stainless steel pipes and auto changeover is this value for money or can I get it cheaper? And are they worth it?
Save a few bob by not having the Auto changeover. It is there so you can use one cylinder at a time & it indicates when you are on the second one and (when used with 'normal' cylinders) it allows removal of one cylinder whilst leaving the other connected. Now the latest Gaslow cylinders have gauges you don't need a reserve cylinder - you can see how much you've used by looking at the them.

Yes, auto changeover not worth it

At the same time make sure you don't get conned into a cheap kit with rubber hoses because if you don't install the system with the stainless hoses offered, then your warranty will be void by Gaslow!!

What is the deal with stainless steel hoses? They cost three or four times the price of rubber hoses, only guaranteed for 15 years and don't seem to solve the problem of regulators gunging up.

Just think of it as a Gaslow painted red and stretched, There is nothing different apart from the gauge and that is nothing at all.

Fit a filter end of problem

Underslung tanks will need specialised fitting and could add massive £££ to the cost.

Cost me about £600 so not much in it. Disadvantage is its not easy to remove if you change van.BUSBY.

Mine is , about half an hour (y) but the frame only fits Alko 1295 wide x 265 deep rails

Just a thought. I use a camping gaz cylinder for my BBQ. I bought an extra hose and adapter so that if I run out of gas, I can as an emergency, run the CampingGaz though the Gaslow system. Wouldn't last long but it is readily available throughout Europe.

One "Gas it" 11kg bottle does us and we go for 3 to 4 months. Just 'top-up' everytime you see a GPL sign.. Order direct by phone and it will be sat on your doorstep in two days.. Free postage. !! I had to drill the 70mm hole in the skirt of our van when it was brand new !!
Arsewinky, but simple !! Good luck. You won't regret it...

Have decided to to install a Gaslow system. My query is in relation to the siting of the filler, it seems a neater job (also more security) to fit it inside the gas locker. However, I notice the Gaslow Website has a warning notice about problems especially in France with this arrangement. Has anyone encountered difficulties in refilling? A second point, how easy is it to access the pump if you need to leave sufficient room to open the locker door?
Many thanks,
Jack

Opinion is around 50/50 so I would do what you want.
Personally outside is better and neater.

AM i right in thinking that an underslung tank is not permited in the chunall. Can a gasglow travell in it

No you're not

When we bought our LMC the gas locker held 2x13kg gas bottles-we had an underslung tank fitted and now it holds:- Cadac Safari Chef,3 EHU leads of varying lengths,1 reel flat hose,5ltr container windscreen washer .fluid,5 x 1.5lts toilet fluid,5 x 1.5ltrs grey tank freshener,1 collapsible trolley,1 folding step.
The convenience of that was worth it,and the fact that we can now fill up with gas at garages is a bonus (y)
Whether it's cost effective or not really is not important-it makes life easier.:)

I was lucky enough to get a second hand twin 6kg kit very cheap and fitted it myself ever so easy and saves a lot of money on gas used it in France and Spain last winter no problems and you can go through tunnel.

Anyone been refused gas with the filler inside the locker?

Not me but I have read posts on forums by the individuals concerned where that has been the case.
There is nothing worse than feeling like a criminal opening your gas locker door

Thanks for the replies.......jury still out.

I am looking to replace my gasit 11 kg bottle with an under slung tank so mine will be up for sale soon if anyone is interested

Looks like the jury's in......Fit outside.

What vehicle is it Stew?
Is your gas locker on the same side as your fuel fill?

Hymer B544 SL
The fuel fill on the same side and next to the gas locker..

Andy, Just curious as to why? Would there be a problem where the filler is sited?
