I’m not sure if this has been covered but there’s an appeal gone out from a care home in Hove looking for motorhomes or camper vans to enable care home key workers to stay on site. I am interested in what people think, would you or would you not loan your van to a key worker?

Yes I would but wouldn't use it again until a few weeks after getting it back.

In theory yes - but define "key worker" in this specific scenario.
Would the care home, local authority or government indemnify me against loss or damage as I'm sure it's outside my insurance cover.

No, sorry. Where I live there are plenty of caravan sites that rent out static. They have water, gas, electricity and drainage already connected. There are lots of hotels with much better facilities. Key workers deserve better !!

Surely there are local dealers that could help out. I see a motorhome company lent out 50 further north.

If I was still selling vans, then I would lend out a big twin axle van for their use. It wouldn't sell right now and could have a deep clean when it comes back before selling

I have made facilities available at some of my homes for our staff who are now remaining in lockdown.
Caravans for creches, empty rooms as staff accommodation.

I can not tell you how dire it is atm.

But would i lend my van to my own staff?
No probably not but i may have to if this carries on.

I would think a serious issue would be emptying the cassette

yes in principle, we are looking at using our unused holiday let for a local care person needing isolation

you are right David, for many, getting them to understand this principle is beyond them... I remember many years ago me and drago explaining to a funster from down the south coast (RIP) at a bring and buy meet that the toilet never flushed and you had to empty the cassette. despite having had a full handover, he could not get his head around this concept until the matter started to come out of the bowl :-)
