Couldn't resist posting this and it's available directly from the Chinese manufacturer via Alibaba. And it's an EV - US$1,199 including batteries.

So it's the Changli Nemeca - for less than £950 + shipping!

Last video gives the car (if you can call it that) a thorough review inside, outside and underneath:

Just have to think of a use for one now... ;) (y)

Might pass on that one.....

Good idea, I can't understand why Tesla Dyson etc. do not grasp the idea of building in lightness. Electric cars will have a range and usability depending upon weight. They all seem to think steel is basis of a car, carbon fibre and plastics are the way..

Not sure it would pass an IVA test without front brakes..

Good concept though.

I've just watched the first video and there is no way on earth that thing is safe! If you watch it at 4.14 it actually lifts one of the front wheels when it goes up the bump, and at 5.52 when it goes through the water the front wheels lift up completely!

As a petrolhead ......... I love it , I would definitely buy one if it could pass UK regs 👍

Love it. Do you reckon that the DfT would authorise it for road use here in the UK? Got to be worth a pop for nipping to the shops in the winter?

Could you register it as an invalid car would then not require testing , but I think I would want to redo all the p/s welding. Would be great fun ballancing the brakes reminds me of a 1930s hillman system where you had to use feeler gauge on the shoes before adjusting the rods/cables.

Because this would fold like a cardboard box if it hit anything. I'm not anti chinese but am becoming more resistant to buying things produced by them because most of it is absolute tat.

Safety legislation I expect. To pass requires the ability to crumple at a controlled rate whilst retaining an intact passenger cell and steel is probably the only cost-effective choice.

Article at the weekend on the Dyson car. It was made of aluminium and still weighed 2.5 tonnes. it was a monster 15ft long and as high as a Range Rover With a range of 600miles.
the reason it didn’t go into production was the price would have been £150,000 just to break even! :Eeek:

There is a small petrol engine car in India that starts at around £1500, made for the masses that would never be able to afford a normal car. The one thing these type of cars are missing is they don't have any safety features at all. They would never be allowed on the road in any western country.

The Chinese have been rather successful meeting the huge demand of those who are forever on the lookout for cheap products.
(Including Funsters ;) )

I'm happy that people have choice but for myself would prefer to have choice of a better quality product.

Looks an interesting set up. Slightly surprised it has a diesel engine, rather than petrol? Would suspect it night be a tad noisy?
They are Kubota 2 cylinder diesel engines 8bhp 🙄 there are a few knocking about in Benidorm, they sound very rough.
