Just started!
Could someone please remind me what these figures mean?
Weight Plate.jpg

That’s the chassis plate if you have a coachbuilt there should be another one somewhere

Reason I ask is because recently my Lunar Roadstar weighed in at 4,250kg!!! To get to the 3,500kg I'll have to remove everything! I'm guessing the Lunar Roadstar isn't what's referred to as 'coachbuilt'? I don't really know the diference!

That looks like the Fiat plate and not the Lunar plate. You need to find the Lunar plate.

What does it say on your V5?

Lunar Roadstar is a coachbuild.
If the Fiat plate says 3500kg it may have been uprated to 3850kg, on that chassis 3971kg wood be the absolute max.

Second one is Maximum train weight. I.e. can tow 2000kg
Not quite.
It means that when towing a trailer, the maximum that the whole unit can be is 5500kgs.
However, the other weight limits have to be adhered to at the same time.
If the van weighed less than 3500kgs  you could tow more than 2000kgs but come back on here when you have either: Found the converters plate or; Let us know what it says on your V5c (but that doesn't help with axle weights)

Just checked the V5c and no mention of weight anywhere. I'll have to search for the Lunar plate.

Thanks for the replies.

4250kg 😱
I looked at a couple of 720's a few years ago and they were 3500kg on the 230 chassis so not a chance of being useable
I know the 244 maxi chassis can be taken to 4000kg but no idea about the 230
Whatever happens you need to lose a lot of weight in that van
What road tax do you pay?

2000

No water in the tanks and half a tank of diesel, 2 leisure batteries.

How many get stopped by VOSA I wonder?

Unless there was some extensive work done by Lunar there's no way on earth you can go over the Fiat weights (1850+2120=3970), certainly no where near what you appear to bee running at.

What road tax do you pay? What does it say next to Revenue weight?

On our V5C it's stated under [Y]:

You can go to 4000 on the 244 maxi by fitting air assist on the back, same original fiat axle weights of 1850 and 2120....air assist takes rear to 2250
No idea if that's possible on the 230 🤷‍♂️ but 4250 ain't happening without another axle

Its 3500kg as plg class

If it was over 3500kg it would be as minxy posted private hgv class
So 750kg overweight

I would make the van go on a diet and contact one of the uprating companies to see if you can go to 3850 or 4000 👍

We were worried about the payload on our Knaus Boxstar 600, so loaded ‘most’ of the stuff we would normally take, minus the rack & electric bikes which we knew the weights of. With both of us, a full fuel tank, and 20l of water it came to 3415Kg. This should be a cautionary tale for some people as it means we cannot take our electric bikes and be within our weight limits! Needless to say, we shall be embarking on the uprating route fairly soon.

Or enough water for morning showers.

I've always been very aware of payload even when we had caravans & would never buy a Motorhome that I couldn't run with a full water tank.

We will probably downsize in a couple of years whatever we buy we will have the maxi chassis upgrade as I wouldn't want less than a 1000kg of payload.

The first weight is the vehicle maximum allowed weight allowed 3,500 KGS the second weight is the maximum vehicle/trailer weight (the weight you are allowed to pull behind your motorhome. At the present weights shown that would be up to 2,000 KGS. Your payload with be the weight of your Motorhome un-laden (i.e. take everything 'possibly' out of your moho and get it weighed at a local weighbridge) that un-laden weight deducted from your 3,500 KGS will be the payload weight you can go up to. Payload includes everything you put back into the moho including yourself, partner, water, fuel etc. but must not exceed the 3,500 KGS.
1 and 2 refer to the front and rear axel maximum weights and although they amount to more than the 3,500KGS they are listed separately purely to allow for weight distribution on each axel.

We regularly see people on sites like Van life putting in all kinds of nice looking features like tiled splashbacks and stained glass windows (yes, really) and bath tubs and wood burners... and you just think what on earth does that thing weigh?
