Adria Twin On Order
Can anyone tell me if the new Fiat Uconnect 7" units have wireless Apple CarPlay? I know they have CarPlay (and android auto) but looking to see if you still need to connect a USB/lightning cable between the head unit and phone. My Adria van will have a wireless charging base so it would be a little frustrating if I still need to physically connect the phone to the head unit to get CarPlay to operate.

There was a new Twin 640SLB at Dyce Caravans a few weeks ago so if they still have it you could check it.

My 2021 Twin has Apple CarPlay.

I just found this and plugged in through Aux you have Bluetooth 😆

Won’t it depend on what he motorhome manufacturer specifies, many vans seem to come without head units or aftermarket units,

The one DC have is a bit of an anomaly as it has a 10" unit.

Which is perhaps the same as my one. Hope you don’t have too much of a wait to get it.

It's due to be built in February for March delivery but I'm not overly hopeful of that date. If it arrives in time for summer I'll be happy - anything earlier will be a bonus! I'll give Stuart at DC a shout next week to see if he can enquire about any delays as quite a few folk with Twins on order seem to be getting updates (not positive ones).

I believe the Uconnect units have had a bit of an update and am wondering if adding wireless to the CarPlay facility was included in the update.

I hope you're enjoying your van.

I am unsure, if I find anything I will get back to you
Happy New year 🥳

I've had a trawl around Fiat's website and although still not a definitive answer as to whether or not Adria have adopted the latest unit, at least I know the Uconnect is capable and so there's a reasonable chance it'll be wireless since I know it definitely has CarPlay and also has the wireless charging module.

If it doesnt that are plenty of aftermarket adapters that you plug into the usb on the head unit and that provides the wireless carplay rather than having to use the cable.

Good to know.

Very much so. Took it out this afternoon for a run, wanted to keep on driving 😀
I don’t think I’m a million miles away from you. Feel free to take a run to my driveway and leave the van (and keys) there for a couple of weeks!! Don’t worry - I’ll happily give you a lift home! 😁

I doubt it to be honest, the delays & what will actually come are a real pigs ear. Here is a photo of the dash of a 22 model that arrived at my dealers, unannounced or ordered, a couple of weeks ago, metallic orange too! You can see above the wireless charging shelf a USB port which I think will be to connect the phone.

I've just been advised by someone who took delivery of a Twin 640 SLB recently that the head unit does indeed support wireless Apple CarPlay. I'm a happy chappy now! :)

Bluetooth alone is not enough for CarPlay, too much data involved. I found this on the AppleToolBox site.

“CarPlay does actually support wireless connections, but only for vehicles with very specific hardware. And a simple Bluetooth connection simply won’t cut it.

Even though you may be able to connect to a standard receiver via Bluetooth, the wireless standard isn’t robust enough to handle the kind of data transferal that CarPlay requires to work.

Wireless CarPlay needs Bluetooth and in-vehicle Wi-Fi to work properly. But that’s not all. Your car actually also needs to have a dual-band router built-in to allow for CarPlay.”
