Shouldn't think so.....once into Spain there is high ground....however you will not be permitted to travel on certain sections until the road has been cleared....holding areas are provided...we have lived in Spain for more than 20 years...used chains once in Slush....
at the request of the Guardia Civil.....the Gun was the deciding factor.....but I didn't use it..🙄🇪🇦👍

daft question but do you know how to put them on ? very easy when home on a warm dry day on the drive , not so easy on the side of the road with cold fingers and soggy bottoms

Never used them but if stopped do i need to show i have them.

Why did you need a gun in the snow ? 😝😝

Hello. You should not need chain's. As Jumar said the Spanish have hugh parking areas and hotels in the high mountains that are there for when they shut the motorway. Our first time was 2020 in Spain and we were given lots of advice from rallies, some of it dire. Do not fall for a car pulling along side you pointing at the side of the van. They are robbers. Tell your wife/partner not to put the passports and credit cards 8n the handbag, and do not travel with the handbag in the footwear. There have been instances when fuelling and the driver goes to pay and a chap knocks on the passenger door pointing at the back wheel. Passenger gets out, another person comes in and pinches the handbag and the lots gone.

We are travelling down at the same time but on the east side, the Route de Soleil.

When you get to the Poitiers area on the A10 (assuming you are using the motorway) you can pull off onto the N10. It's dual carriageway and toll free. All the Spanish and Portuguese trucks use it. If you need an overnight in the Charente area there is a free aire in the village of Verteuil sue Charente. Water, grey and black waste disposal. Free for 48 hrs. Electricity is extra from the Marie. For a small village it has a number of bars, cafe's and a restaurant.

If you are going to Alannia, we will see you there.
