When I drain down down for the winter, I pull the water pump fuse from the EBL. Is this necessary?

I have a switch on mine and yes I do turn it off.

I wouldn't have thought so, I just turn the 12 volts off whenever it's not in use, winter or not.

If you don't have a pump switch yes as you need to leave the taps open. The Exsis we had, had a pump switch.
