Hi All,
Filched from somewhere very recently, (and I can't remember where).

If you have the beginnings of a cracked windscreen, treat the crack with nail varnish. (I'd use clear so's not to advertise it.)

Not had to try it yet and I'm not saying it's the Bees knees, but if it prevents the crack flying across your field of vision, it has to be good.

Why would you attempt a self repair if your insurance company covers free professional repair?

In my case so I could continue to use MH whilst the replacement was on order. It took a couple of weeks.
A great idea if you're going to replace the windscreen.

Autoglass told me that a self repair may prevent them from injecting their repair solution if you subsequently opt for a repair rather than a replacement

If you claim for a free repair of your windscreen its classed as a claim, effecting your NCD and premium.
A paid repair is £25 or kits to do t yourself £3.50 off ebay.

Do the repairmen do repairs on cracked windscreens?

That's what I mentioned in the OP, and not a 'chip'.

Most cracks start from a chip and radiate out.
If you get a stone chip, repairing that will stop a crack developing.

Time you changed insurers.
Windscreen glass claims don't affect NCB...its usually stated in the Ts & Cs, but it could affect your renewal premium.
Still a lot cheaper than a new screen.

True, protected ncd but increase on premium.
Last chip I paid myself, only £25 so not too bad.
