Hi, Is there any members on here with a wildax constellation 3xl.We have been thinking about downsizing from our coach built to a 6.3 van conversion, we happen to just visit a dealer not to far from us just to have a look to pass a bit of time,
we came across a 2018 wildax 3xl for sale the layout just felt right, Ido not know any thing about wildax campers so would be intressted in any info good or bad. What is the maxium weight the info on the screen said 3300kg should that have been 3500kg and what is the payload roughly on the van. if it is 3300kg i cant see there would be enough payload
Thanks
Kevin

I have an Aurora, the payload was dented by extra battery, solar panel & towbar.
Fully laden with me & the dog, full tanks etc I was 50kg under the 3500kg limit.
Rather than "manage" the issue, I did the paper exercise of uprating.

I haven't broken anything (yet) so the build seems to be fairly substantial.

The shorter version is on the Citroen Relay L3H2 35 chassis in standard trim but the longer one I believe is the L4H2 so should be able to go up to 3500kg without any mods, this is from the below link:

The largest New Relay panel vans are the 3.5 and 4.005 tonne GVW L4H2 and L4H3 models, which have a load deck length of 4070mm. These are produced in 'Heavy Specification' with 16-inch wheels and tyres, and uprated heavy duty rear suspension. In L4H2 format, the New Relay has a load volume of 15m3, which is increased to an impressive 17m3 for the L4H3 model.
<Broken link removed>.

How much over 3500kg you can go will be dependent on the exact chassis but I suspect from what's said on the Citroen website you could go up to 4500kg as a paper exercise however without confirmation as to exactly which chassis Wildax use it's difficult to be certain.

I've no idea why some converters plate them at 3300kg unless in some countries they have this as their limit rather than 3500kg as we have in the UK.

Nice van well built, ours was 3300kg updated to 3500kg no problems had 2 winters in Morocco.
Go for it we would have another

There are different versions of the Ducato / Boxer / Relay chassis or base vehicle, within the same nominal vehicle wheelbase. That creates differing Gross Vehicle Weights for outwardly the same van. It's probably fractionally cheaper for a converter to use the lower weight limit vehicle:

They are now part of the Rapido group. You may possibly get some feedback from the Rapido Owner FB page, although not sure if that covers Wildax.

I thought the 3300 was a lighter chassis, else why not just 3500?

Hi.
We are on our second Wildax and perhaps looking for our third. First one Europa on the Renault Auto, this one Constellation3 Auto. The layout of the constellation 3. is just right for us,and it has a big fridge.
Try going on " Wildax enthusiasts Group " f/book There you can pick up some good information on the various models. Customer service? With us it has been second to non, rang with a problem one morning while in the UK. was asked, where were we ?. Said Derbyshire. Danny said. " Thats only about an hour away, come up now..." As mentioned, maybe a third..... Best of luck whatever you decide.

Had a 2010 reg Solaris. Mgw 3300. Paper exercise to uprate to 3500kg. Used SVTech. Had problems with dvla saying it took us into different tax class but SV sorted that also. Well built vans where you could speak to the people who built them so get sensible answers, this could now be more problematic as they’ve grown but Duncan Wildman the md knows them inside out

Thanks for all the replies, we went back to the dealer to day ,it's on a 3500kg chassis with a rear axle weight of 2450 or 2400 can't remember which , we are sleeping on it tonight got to let him know tomorrow. If we have it the earliest is the second week of September but that's in the middle of our holiday, we could possibly alter our weeks holiday
Kevin

Take delivery slots as a guesstimate rather than a fixed date in your diary...
Wildaxs are/were built to order...
...so your base vehicle isn't ordered until you decide on your options.
Then you wait for a build slot.
Delays happen

Sorry should have explained it's a 2018 used model, but they are so busy with what they have sold second week of September would be the earliest we could have it.it's 1am and I am watching wildax vids on YouTube anyway sleep time now

In which case it will be the equivalent of the Fiat Maxi on the heavy chassis, 2100kg front axle and 2400kg rear axle, so can be uprated as a paper exercise if you want to.

Thank you Minxy Girl, would that be 4250kg without having to fit air assist
We are still thinking about it, looking at the pro's &cons of downsizing

Yes it should be, we had the Fiat versions (as have some other funsters) and fitting rear air wasn't a requirement to uprate the ONLY thing you need to check on is if the tyres are of the correct rating for the higher weight as some campers are apparently supplied with ones which aren't.

My Citroen based WildAx could only go up to 3700 as a paper exercise... or to axle maximums with rear air assist 3850 [1850+2000]
The rear axle limit could be increased further with wider rear tyres.
As advised by SVTech

Looks like you have the light chassis rather than the heavy version.

Well we have done it, agreed a price to part ex our Bessacarr 442 for the wildax constellation, just got to work out what we need and what we don't need now we are down sizing
we pick it up on the 9th of september and then we have two weeks holiday.
