Hi

I have got myself an unlocked USB WiFi dongle so that I can interchange broadband SIMs.

It also has a slot for a microSD card. What is this, what is it for, do I need to change it when I change SIM cards here or abroad?

Explanation in SIMPLE language please

You can use the dongle as a card reader if for example you want to download files from a SD card.

its the same as a memory stick you never have to change it unless you want a larger 1 it just allows memory to the dongle

You do not even need to put a memory card in the dongle, it will still work without one.
Just put your sim card in as required.
It just gives you memory storage.

I have never bothered to put a memory card in my dongles.......

the micro SD can be put in an adapter to make it a normal SD to use in other equipment, such as when storing photos etc and then transferring them to your camera or desk computer or back to your laptop etc. They cost literally pennies

Many thanks for all the replies.

Simple, straightforward explanations:Smile: :thumb:

Heres what i use my SD in my dongle for...

I use a password App - called LockBox this has all my passwords for bank, websites etc etc. I keep it copied on PC, dongle SD and in my phone...

So I always have it to hand....

Bet your thinking...numpty....someone will have it away with your life mate...!!

The App is password protected and the data is encrypted (448 Blowfish - your bank connections are only 128 bit encrypted!), if you lose you password, you have lost everything it cannot be undone or opened (you have been warned)

Just my two penneth worth
