Wickes 160 Bar Pressure Washer Special Offer

Hi All,

Decided after much deliberation whilst trying to clean my decking this weekend that I would invest in the 160 Bar 510 L p/h.

The Detailing Forum I am on reckons that it is a better product than the Karcher which has slightly less pressure and output per hour. The Karcher is listed at something like £450.00 and the Wickes at £200.00, however check this out:

Went down yesterday to £120!

I can tell you that there are two still in Trowbridge branch!

If you don't have a pressure washer for cleaning your MH, this is the product to go for and it comes with a year warranty!

Regards

Chris

Hi Geo,

Oh sorry not going to be there:ROFLMAO:

Pleased someone else go the deal as well. As mentioned the guys in the Detailing Forum reckon it is a bargain at £200.

Imagine my face when I turned up at Trowbridge to pick it up and pay £200. Thought it was a mis print!

Hi Chris
Might be worth having a look at one of these, saves mess flying everywhere.
Comes with three adapters for different machines, fits karcher for certain so may
fit your new-one. Also it has a detergant resovoir built-in, that my karcher doesn't  Link Removed

washing the van on saturday and the little karcher went with a bang.
quick trip to B+Q produced a 130bar karcher for £140. came with two lance extensions, a turbo wand, a brush and a patio cleaner, same as Nige has said but karcher, not macAllister plus i still have the original wand which i mod-ed to get into the wheel arches without getting soaking wet.
all i need now is an adaptor to join the two hoses(new one and old one) and i'll have a 14mtr hose as well.

Hi Folks,

Thought I would pass on a tip, not only about this pressure washer but about any.

I have been using this new one and been impressed for most of the time. However, occasionally I thought my pressure was going down on the mains. So would take the excuse for a cup of tea.

Today, it did not make sense that the pressure was down for a long time, so I fiddled around with the hose pipe inlet and discovered the pressure went from very low to absolute maximum. Further investigation showed the fault was due to the hozelock quick remove connector. You know the one that you take the gun off and it wont leak:

Replaced it for the normal one and and had not only constant pressure but more than I have ever had since using it!

Check what you have!

My Swift handbook says Do not use a pressure washer on the bodywork as it will damage the paint. So I have always used a cloth and wash leather. I have a Karcher in the shed but only use it for the patio.

A pressure washer used correctly can make the job of cleaning a motorhome or any vehicle quicker and easier.

Of course, if you are daft enough to put the full pressure of the machine onto the mh :Eeek:

Oh and if used properly it actually uses less water! Unless of course you are a one bucket person. In which case remind me not to buy your mh!

Is it just me or are pressure washers rubbish at cleaning vehicles? I use one all the time to get mud or salt of the Landrover and wash the yard etc, but when cleaning a vehicle properly, removing the road film, a brush and bucket does a much better job than a pressure washer, unless you have it so high you risk damaging the paint work or decals.

I use it now and again, but for rinsing only, after the the proper washing has been done with a brush. Am I missing something?

Hi Jim,

My specialist subject and I don't have time to go into it!

Basically the pressure washers main purpose is as you say to loosen the muck and for rinsing.

In between that the next best tool would be a foam lance connected to the pressure washer, which is used to put a snow foam over the vehicle, this will soak into any muck which is then rinsed off with the pressure washer. You then use a bucket with a sheepskin mit and every time you come back to the bucket for more soap you rinse in a separate bucket filled with fresh water. This is called the two bucket method, suprisingly enough!

Rinse with a pressure washer being careful to remove any remaining bits of dirt.

Then spray with a quick detailing mixture which chases the water and leaves a high shine when wiped off with a 'waffle weave' cloth - not and never a chamois!

So there will be lots and lots of questions and thoughts. Which I will do my best to answer. However, trying to get everything ready for a week in Cyprus and flying tomorrow morning, where we are all going to my Daughters wedding and I am the photographer! So yes you are right panic!

Regards

Chris

Enjoy Cyprus and the Wedding Chris.

I use a long Extendable brush with a water valve attached to it, bought from a Caravan Supplies a few years ago and rinse with the pressure washer from a distance. They can cause more damage than they are worth some times.
Great for the underside, removing mud, etc
