Just checking when my next service is due on the bus and got to thinking which funster has the highest mileage motorhome, and what is the base chassis. I dare bet a pint that my old RMB will be up there in the top 5. Its still on the original running gear and according to the service records never had a spanner on the engine other than filter changes. So come on you old timers, now is your chance to enter the Motorhomefun hall of fame. Can you beat this...234304. That equates to 14644 per year during its 16 year life.

Pretty impressive either way but is that miles or KM, ours isn't even knocking on the door at 82,000 I left it in KM as it looks more.

Wow - if you used it every day for the whole of its life.

You would have driven 40 miles to the next campsite everyday (y):D

Thats a very impressive almost quarter of a million!!! Wow!

Ours is 19yrs old and has done 70k

my old talbot express (a delivery van before she was given to me) had 525000 miles on her before the head went.
the current rapido merc has 160000km in 10 years

Half a million - gasp!!!

That's some mileage.....what chassis is the RMB built on, if a Merc some real high mileage vans around. Remember commercial versions of campers lead a very hard life indeed and cover many miles. Campers cosseted in comparison

The OKA 4WD in my avatar was built in Australia in 1994 and was a tour bus until I bought it in 2003. At that time it had travelled 330,000km.

I converted it to a motorhome in 2004/5 and we travelled Oz for 8 to 9 months every year for the next 5 years. Most years we would cover about 25,000 km.

It now has a tad under 500,000 km on the clock. The majority of that has been on tracks and gravel roads.
OKA built the chassis in house.
The engine is a 4 cylinder 4L turbo charged Perkins.
Most of the other mechanicals are Dana Spicer.
There are many OKAs with over 1,000,000 km up.

The 'van we hired in New Zealand lat Christmas had 395000Kms on the clock.
It was 2.5 VW based and looked a little like a Calypso with an overcab bed.

HI Dave, our's is just passing 374890KM = 225837miles, so our beauty must be in the top contenders, and must say she's still going strong, long live the old timer Merc's A!,Regards Alf

Have just returned from lunch at Vallajoyosa so will check mileages after my siesta. Hope I dont have to buy many pints :).

15000 miles in the last two years. But considering my van's previous two owners only managed 4700 miles in four years. It seems quite high.

The MH hasn't done much about 25000 miles but a friend of mine owns a bus company and I do the occasional private hire for him. One Saturday night he left a note to take a Merc 27 seater for this wedding party, well I thought this is nice compared to the old things he normally gives me and at 6 years old it had over 500000 miles on it. It's very rarely off the road so make you wonder what some of these wagons will do.

We bought our Hymer on a Fiat chassis with 20,000 miles on the clock. That was 5 years ago. It now has 130,000 under its belt. I think some owners who still have jobs tend to drive 200 miles to a campsite, stay there for three weeks and then drive home again.

Our previous van conversion started out with 30,000 miles and finished up with 160,000.

But we do usually manage to spend close to 100 nights per year in it.

'Shirley's nearly 20 years old and has done just 35,000 miles.

Is that the reverse of your record, Dave? :)

Wow! Now...assuming you weren't the original owner...how many of those miles have you added?

She had 23,000 on the clock when I bought her nearly 10 years ago so not that many considering we average over 60 nights away each year :)

You do realize that by the time that engine needs a major overhaul, there'll be no fossil fuels left on this planet! :)

My van has done 130,000km it had 113000km when I got it I have done 17000km in it even with all the brake downs sins rebuild I have done 2900 km and it runes beater every day.

Our is 8 years old and has just shy of 30k. So still a baby to these old boys. But we've done more each year in the time we've had it then the previous owner. Who had it for 3 years.
