So which way to park your van? I like to put out my awning and so park with the wind blowing from the opposite side of the van. Or should I be guided by the sun? In hot places, where I am now, if I get the sun coming under the awning, it can become stiflingly hot. Then there is the fridge to consider, keeping the sun off the outside fridge wall. There is nothing worse than warm beer.

In our PVC, generally with sliding door facing south (fridge is on the opposite side, so north). Sit outside sliding door in sunshine. We don't have an awning -- if it gets too hot, wear a big hat. If it gets even hotter sit the other side of the van in the shade. Perfect.

Tend to have the sun on the left i.e. doorside. Roll out the awning a bit to protect the fridge, more if we want/need shade. In extreme cases, e.g. Morocco, I put up the breeze blockers which when pegged out an angle make an excellent shade without masking the view.

This all usually depends on how everybody else is parked of course. We find many folk park with door facing "blank" side of their neighbours so we try to do the same, although not always possible.

I like to face East so I get the sun on the awning side all day. With the awning out it also keeps the sun off the fridge.

My main consideration is the view, either out of the side door or the front windows, pitch allowing.

Prefer to park for the view but do like to get some evening sun on the had door side for sitting out in the evening.

I just like to park level enough so my beer doesn't slide off the table :drinks:

Always facing the view.
If that happens to be in the east then that's good because we get the sun on the awning side all day. (Continental van so the door/awning is on the wrong side, according to British camp site wardens)
A bit of sun in the evening is good, while I fire up the BBQ and try out the temperature of the beer. :D:D

Stayed on one of their sites once and looked for the peg, couldn't find it so stayed where I was. Found it when I moved off, it was under my back wheel.

I prefer to park how Woman tells me to. Even then it’s likely she will change her mind as soon as I finish setting up !

Setting up???
What is this setting up that you speak of?
Is that putting the kettle on or opening a beer?:LOL::LOL::LOL:

I wish !
The management also insists on a taller step being put out, a mat under the step, and the chairs being put out... Chairs I might add, that are only used by me usually !

From handbrake applied to gas on, fridge started, awning out, chairs out, beer and/or wine open takes us 3-4 minutes - if we are on a 'go-slow'

We like to face the van towards the rising sun so that the front window clears quickly in the morning sun and provides free heat to warm us up on cooler days

All things being equal we would face East, because with a 'Continental' layout with hab door and awning on the RH side we get the sun all day and the awning for shade if necessary.

British MHs cannot have all that.

I usually park wherever is flattest, and to put the nose down so we sleep feet down. Secondary consideration will be face south, so the west side of the van can be shaded if we go out the afternoon for the dog, or to maximise view from the cab (which is where I sit with my coffee on days when such luxuries are allowed by the tiny tyrant)

Best view.. from sides or front, we have large side windows so like to make use of them.

One of my hobbies is flying model planes. Wind direction is very important here, and most days it changes direction considerably during the day. Thus you would need to put your mh on a turntable to have the wind always blowing from the opposite direction.

Eh?
Surely in a British van you just face west.?
Or is it a different:love: sun in a british van

Levelling ramps hack me off and my van is nose down by default, so I look for a bit of a rise (ohh err...) to park nose up, and I don't give a flying fig how all the other vans are parked.

Front facing the view ...couldn't care less about the rest.

Flat and facing away from everyone else. I'd rather see the side of someone else's van than that awkward moment where you're sitting outside having a beer and the family of six opposite sit there in silence, all facing you and not acknowledging any greeting or smile at all. That was an uncomfortable evening!! Fortunately they'd gone (in complete silence, I might add) when we got up the next morning.
