Freezing here in France, so going to make our way to warmer climes for a few weeks. Have narrowed it down to 3 sites, never been to any of them before, which one is our best bet ?
- Bonterra at Benicassim
- Alicante Imperium at Villajoyosa
- Devesa Gardens Resort at El Saler
We don't want to go any further south, want electric hook up and hot showers, somewhere we can walk to shops/bar/restaurant and also public transport to somewhere a bit bigger and more interesting. Of the three, think El Saler is probably the favourite but open to suggestions :)
We've stayed a few times at the Vilanova Park (Barcelona area) which we really like as it provides all the above but thought this time a bit further south might be a warmer, plus somewhere new.
Recommendations/suggestions please
Many thanks
MrsS
PS MrS likes to play golf...

We are freezing in France too, drove through snow today through the Dordogne, in Castelnaudray tonight, onwards to Spain tomorrow x
Nice town, we really liked it and just a short walk from the camping-car park but I can imagine it is pretty brrrrr chilly there too. Keep heading south! Where are you going?

Bonterra Park is a lovely site with a supermarket across the road and another 500 yards away,,Easy walk to the beach and into town.Excellent cycling.

We stayed at Imperium for 2 months and have booked for January and February next year so we find it okay with the tram to Benidorm or Alicante there if needed.

Bottoms are allergic to bikes lol
What is public transport like to Valencia?

Thanks Mikeco - reading reviews there seems to be problem with dogs barking sometimes? Otherwise that was our original choice (y)

Did not notice any problem with barking dogs but you do get a bit of noise from the recycling depot next door but it did not bother us and our pitch overlooked it.

Well one of us has hearing aids and the other needs the TV up a little bit louder these days so don't expect the recycling depot would be a problem for us either lol
At Vilanova Park we were right by the saw mill next door. Didn't really notice the noise (and over the Christmas period they were closed quite a lot) but when they were working the smell of freshly sawn wood was fab :)

Camping Monmar at Moncofa is about 60 miles closer to Valencia and the site runs a minibus to the station for the early train, returning at about 17:00 to meet the evening train and drop you back at the site. We didn't manage the Valencia trip in 2020, but a 1 month stay was priced at €12 per night including 6 amp electricity

We also used Camping Allegria at Benicarlo, heading away from Valencia, and used the super pitches at €17 per night including 10 amp electricity

Thanks Steve, nearer to Valencia makes sense although not sure we would ever make an 'early' train, as we are allergic to early mornings as well as bikes ::bigsmile:

so no one been to Devesa Gardens Resort at El Saler??
We stayed at Camping Valencia ( ACSI ) for a week three years ago.
It was a busy and decent site with a few bars and shops a few hundred yards away.
There's a regular bus right outside to Valencia which takes about 30 mins or a dedicated cycle track all the way into the city.
We cycled down to Devesa gardens which despite looking good online , was a miserable soulless place with only a couple of tourers on it.
Apart from the Parador on the golf course opposite ,it's a long way from anything.

To all that use Imperium, do you use a code as it seems expensive to me for January ie 28 nights 530 euro !!!!! ???

thank you billym. Devesa just got crossed off the list :)

Travel permitting we re off to Bonterra shortly. We ve been a few times, its well located, and quite sociable, Mercadona across the road etc etc. The downside is its a bit concrete and no views. Good winter choice though.
