We have 3 small kids (5,4 and nearly 3) and would like to go away for 4-5 nights.
We usually wild camp, so it can be away from civilisation, but don't mind a reasonably priced site either (say less than £20 per night).
Near to the sea is preferable and we'd like to avoid the crowds.

Open to advice and if you don't want to make your secret getaway public, please feel free to send me a private message.
thanks in advance.
Simon

Sorry but the only suggestion I have is to do what Im doing, staying home, it's gonna be carnage!
I hope Im wrong but you're asking for somewhere quiet, by the sea and less than £20 a night for 5 of you?

It depends somewhat on where will you be starting from.
Scotland?
Cornwall?
Slough?

(I guess you have your own crowd so I can understand why you don't need to seek out any extras ;) )

Caravan & camping club have loads of Temporary Holiday Sites near to the sea during holidays. Average about £10 night per unit, great for families, sometimes there are activities for kids too eg sandcastle building competition. Most don't need to be booked, but you do need to be a club member.

Yes Simonjdcooper, we really need to know your rough location to provide any help. Unless you are in Scotland or elsewhere really remote, it's a bit of a tall order.

As already mentioned, the Thetford Bash, confusingly in Swaffham this year, is still open. There are usually a small number of children there. Not close to the sea though but then East Anglia coastal areas all actively discourage motorhomes unless on the expensive sites.

The Church Farm site at Aldeburgh for example is close to the shingle beach but will cost you nearly £50 per night. 😣

The Council run Southwold site is close to a lovely sandy beach it again will cost you a lot when you add it up.

What with road works for fibre, half our road dug up for a power cable to the railway and multiple closures for street parties we shall be lucky if we can even get out of our road.

I hope you find somewhere nice for you and the family . I totally understand why you want to take advantage of the extra bank holiday with a young family . Did you have any particular locations in mind ? Things are getting booked up and not much left now .

It’s not all about kids😂😂
I seem to recall the important things about a holiday when ours were that age were first something to keep the kids happy second something to keep Liz happy third if it was possible something I was interested in!. I think a nice day on the beach at that age takes some beating 3 bucket and spades and a kite happy days!

As stated though, the seaside is going to be rammed - everywhere
I don't know about the ths I mentioned. Even when rammed Whitby isn't too bad on the beach although I'd avoid the town and bridge.

May not be for you, but others may enjoy.

plenty going on in Merseyside.

park outside the city, at Crosby, and get the 18-minute train in.
Places to stop overnight in my guide.

We are currently on the C&CC THS at Lyndon Top (rutland water) which would be great for kids. Loads to do and plenty of space £13 a night or if not a member the main site is £15 i think.

We're on a CS in Bournemouth £18 per night with electric
