We thought Nancy a couple of years ago was expensive at 16€ although it did have ehu and heated loos (bit of a bonus as it was a freezing January) and just a short stroll to the square which is reckoned to be one of the most beautiful in Europe if not the world. Stunning, so we thought it was worth it.

Just been to Aigues Mortes in south of France, somewhere we've always wanted to see. Overnight with no ehu was 22€!! Basically a car park, though there was a grey (and black? can't remember) waste point. But again, good location right outside the beautiful walled town, so grudgingly felt it was just about worth it. Location is all...

Anyone paid more than that? And was it worth it???

We stayed at a place in Tuscany which was about €30 a night. I've just looked on CamperContact and it is no longer listed but there is a place nearby for about the same price - and it gets very good reviews, Podere dell' Abergo, Pienza, CC49641. I haven't been there but from the description we'd stay a night or two.

Sometimes for the right location you have to pay - but there is no compulsion to do so. :)

Yes, the thought of hotel prices did make the Aigues Mortes pill a bit easier to swallow :(

Yes but not they aren’t usually on the doorstep at places like this. And you get to sleep in your own bed on an aire ?
But agree that it makes you double take when you see how cheap some hotels are compared to aires and campsites

Rothenburg ob der Tauber. €12 well worth it, BUT for €21 you can camp at Tauber Romantik campsite, which is a really nice site, however the aire is closer to town.

28euros at the Aire in Calpe with a swimming pool. However, had we stayed for just a few more days the price would have come down a lot.
