Will the UK hose connectors be compatible with the the French water tap connection points, or do I need to buy a different type. If different, can you tell me which one to buy please?

Living the dream.
There is no stadard, go to b&Q get a selection of hozelock tap fittings and carry in the van - will meet most things you find.
Yes, grab any of them and keep buying as you see them. I think there's about three for the UK so could be many more over 't ditch you need. (y)

This lot will fit 99.9% of any water connections you see on Campsites, Aires and France Passion sites in France -

If you don't leave at least one of 'B' on a tap during your holiday you'll be very lucky!

Many French aires have a bourne (service point) that takes a male connection which is different to the UK one, slightly bigger. I understand you can get them in one of the DIY places - that's what I'll be doing when I next visit. Meanwhile the trusty long-spout watering can can hold the fort.

You can buy all you need in France, simply have a trawl around their Brick o mats or some such
