Hi all,

Looking to buy an A-Frame, Tow Bar and suitable tow car. Would much appreciate any feedback or comments.

Tow car: Wife currently has a Corsa but I think it's on the heavy side for towing. Fiat Panda or Peugeot 108 seems to get good reviews. As long as we can get 2-adults and a small dog in it I don't mind what it is as it would not be used much apart from towing behind MH.

A-Frame & Tow Bar: Don't know where to start on this one, other than I would like a reputable light-weight unit and have it and a tow-bar professionally fitted. If Supplier is local to North Hampshire that would be a bonus.

Thanks,

We’ve got a Peugeot 107 63 plate so zero tax. When it went in for insurance work, we’re given a new Citroen C1, same as 108 and we didn’t like it as much as the 107 and it didn’t do as many mpg.

I tow a Toyota IQ. 60+ to the gallon, zero road tax, big enough for us two. They are bigger than you think once your inside. (y)

We have towed a Ka which was good until it fell apart, an Aygo (didn't like it) and currently a Pug 108 for the last 2-3 years and it's great.(y)
The Aygo and the 108 both supplied by Towbars2Towcars near Grimsby who give a brilliant service.

TowTrust for towbars. Great people to deal with.

you sure you have the right link there @sweetie... Link doesn't work so tried to remove the hyphens and got redirected to which appears to be just a tow bar sales website.

@HUGGY have a look at www.towbars-2-towcars.co.uk will fit towbar and usually have a good selection of cars fitted with A frame. Very helpful people to deal with.
Another vote for this company. I have a Fiat 500 supplied by them complete with A frame. They also fit towbar and integrate it to the electrics ( fit small warning light on the van dash). They also service the car, van and A frame . There is a convenient campsite very near by that you can stay at. Look at their range of cars available online. Then call Graham, Ben or Roger to chat to them

And another vote, we bought a Fiat Panda from them. Our Springer Spaniel has plenty of room in the boot.

I tow a VW Up on an A frame. Great little car and unlike my Smart it behaves really well whilst being towed. I changed from a Car A Tow frame to a Towing A Frames one because of the weight. I was finding the original one far too heavy, the Towing A Frames one is lot lighter being made of stainless steel.

Tip. Get an unchipped key cut for the car you are towing. You need to leave a key in the steering lock to allow movement. An unchipped key that will not start the engine is more secure. On my car the the remote locking does not work if there is a key in the steering lock but I can still lock the doors by using a key in the drivers door lock in the old fashioned way.

I don't tow it but bought a 1.2 Panda as a runaround last year,,,it is brilliant,,45mpg,,£110 insurance,,£30 road tax,,,,Cracking little motor,,,,BUSBY,

We tow a diesel Corsa (1170kg) and it’s well within the 2000kg tow limit of the MH. Towtal at Stoke fitted the A frame and it works well.

Yes they have altered the hyphens.. But if you just type in towbars 2 towbars in google they suddenly appear. Or you can look on eBay under motorhome tow cars to see some of the cars they have for sale.

Another recommendation for towcars to towbars.
We purchased the system 5 years ago and are onto the 3rd Picanto.
They now put a towbar on for you.
Not cheap swapping system from old Picanto to new Picanto - £500 + vat.
Very helpful company - sorted electrics and lights on our imported Hymer.

I towed a plane on a trailer one that was long at 30'
Now looking for one for my present fiesta but wondering if the new fiestas have the same sub chassis should I get another newer one. I might keep this one only 120000 miles so plenty of life left in it yet.

Another vote for towbars2towcars they know their stuff and pleasure to deal with.

I am very pleased with my Towing A Frames (TAF Chesterfield) with overun brakes but they are now also doing a version with electronic braking, for those who prefer this type of system.

Back to this again... but does anyone tow a small ELECTRIC car at all, just wondering how you get on with it?

We have a Towtal with RVi brake2 and tow a Kia Rio 3 no problem

Smart car and Electronic A Frame system from LNB Towbars in Bristol.
