To clean your windscreen.....

We have just bought an A Class with large screen, noticed some people in France a couple of weeks ago seemed to have something on a pole to clean the bugs etc. off the screen so wondering what others use? With the current coach built I stand on the front wheel and use glass cleaner and a cloth and have a small set of steps to use but not practical when en-route to get them out of the garage.

TIA

Michael

I keep a long handled squeegee and bottle of glass cleaner in a door pocket. Foam and netting on one side, rubber blade on the other.
I can’t remember where I bought it, but I got the idea after seeing them, free to use on French petrol station forecourts.

That looks like what it was, will scour ebay/amazon

We have a long-handled soft bristle brush in the MH garage and I squirt diluted Autosmart G101 and leave for 5 mins. before washing off - disolves insects. We used it successfully on our fleet of 100+ VW Caravelles for years.

Actiwash dissolves flies too (y) you can get it by the gallon mail order and can be diluted up to 100:1 I usually dilute it 75% water 25% Actiwash.
It cleans everything seats, carpets, wheels etc.

Ah yes,a man who has long ago learnt that if you drive slower than the flies travel, your windscreen remains clean.:D(y)
And don't forget rain. I find that rain augments the use of screenwash. Winter finishes the job.

I now use a soft extendible van brush (works well on the roof too)

Having wet the screen a few squirts of car pre wash foam soon removes bugs etc

A soft silicone squeegee removes the remaining water leaving the screen clean and dry

I use a telescopic handle squeegee not unlike the one in @Kingham's photo, but extending twice as long, that can reach all areas of the screen on the X290.
I dip it in some screenwash in a bucket.

[If I had longer arms it would even be capable of cleaning an A Class screen .]

We have a long screen wash T-brush as pictures above but also a long handled brush too, the head of which is shaped like the old style oval clothes brushes but with longer bristles (all plastic), we find that this helps to get off the stubborn fly remains then we use the T-brush to finish the job.

I use a Polish guy down at Tescos!

I mostly use my wiper blades and my screen wash button...

Oh how awfully tiresome for you.. I would have a word with your 'people' as surely it is their job to push buttons and technical things like that

Talented as they all are, there is no one who can set up a Multimo Sat dish as quickly and as accurately as you Mr Jaws...

Once witnessed... never forgotten. ;)

Ahhh.. Just an indication of a misspent time of my life crawling around on peoples roofs JJ :-)

You know the brown film you get on tyre side walls? Makes them look old and perishing, well I gave them a spray with 25% Actiwash then an agitate and rinse off. If I had a decent brush instead of a toothbrush it would have got it all off, but it's dissolved it away great (y)

I'm quite lucky I can reach all areas of my hymer windscreen with both feet firmly on the ground and a sponge. The Frankia was the same , so I wash with a sponge and squeegee water off

Take more than a sponge and Actiwash to sort this out...

Tall people can sometimes make me really sick!
He can reach his high level oven and open it with one hand too Urghhhh.
I have to stand on a folding stool, use both hands to open the oven, bend backwards to avoid being burned and pirouette with hot food whilst stepping off afore mentioned stool, attempting to set the food down without anointing /scalding the eagerly awaiting dogs.
Life sometimes seems so unfair (n)

The only thing I can't reach is the solar panels and the several branches I have stuck in my awning after my recent encounters with trees in the dark.
But when I have bike of back tomorrow I can shimmy up me ladder
