It’s that time of year again! MoHo cleaning! Yeh! Bob’s roof is looking very grotty as I view it from an upstairs window. I am going to fit 2 more solar panels to him in the next few days and I want to get rid of the white powdery oxide(?) and black mouldy looking spots etc. I also want a decent “key” for the sikaflex I’m going to use to a fix the solar panel brackets with. What recommendations for cleaning fluids do you have for me boys n girls?

Thanks in Advance!

Russ

Car shampoo and warm water. Anything stubborn, Actiwash 👍

Car shampoo and after winter armed with a sponge/scrubber - the non scratch type to shift algae and black marks.

Ours has been in storage outside for months and I took it home last week prior to its MOT (which it passed😁). I washed it down with car wash then used a caravan cleaner to remove the countless black spots, a combination of bird droppings and tar. They were stubborn and smeared before disappearing. I could not remove the black growths on the roof light seals.

I was going to use a bird poo / tar remover to clean the roof but worried that it may be too strong and damage the roof surface.

I bought an extendable ladder and was able to reach across the roof as I am not sure if it will take my weight.

one thing I noticed was that, whilst I used a towel to prevent the ladder damaging the roof, there are a number of scrapes that where clearly made by ladders leant against the curve of the roof😡.

I have used fenwicks before and like it however just bought caravan cleaner from Aldi at £1.99.
yet to use it so no review available as yet.

Car wash n wax, pipe insulation on ladders and a very over crowded roof didnt make for a 5 minuet job

Russ, if your going to use Sikaflex, I have some Sika 205 cleaner and Sika Marine primer FS in the classified section.

I just get up there and use car wash, a brush and a sponge. Oh and lots and lots of elbow grease.

Vistal for me, find it doesn't require as much elbow grease. Also think I saw a link somewhere on the site for 10% off Vistal purchases.

It's very good and has no wax in it. Still got a few bottles in stock I buy 4 or 5 bottles when I see it, I've been using it for years.

Must be missing something.... TFR? Thanks Westbarn, I'll have a look at your ad in a sec!

Thanks guys!

My Dad always said "never wash a car - a good layer of dirt protects the bodywork" I follow his advice....always!
My grandad told me when I was a kid my feet would go rusty if I went to bed with my socks on, I still follow his advice too ;)

Hand and knees, plastic non scratch scourer and any decent bathroom or kitchen cleaner to shift the black marks, sap and bird poo. Used auto glym motorhome cleaner, which is great, but more expensive. I then auto glym polish and collinite wax it. I have used smooth colour cut before and does a great job, but again it’s expensive and hard work.

Blooming hard work, but worth it in the end 👍🏻

Should be a pink job as it’s cleaning and stuff 🤷🏼‍♂️

LOL - I used Clean Correct Protect Specialist Valeting. £185 and the Motorhome looks better than it did then we bought it.
Mine cost a lot less than that but it wasn’t a full valet. He did a really good job on the roof without getting on it so well happy. If I could do it myself, then I would
