What did you forget to pack?

Corkscrew …
Did that once but being in France not a problem just knockrked on the door of the van next door at the wild spot we were at.
Bike chargers for our lovely new bikes. Booked onto a nice site on the Otter trail. You’d have thought someone would have had a charger we could borrow but the only couple with electric bikes had different chargers. We were there a week, managed 3 rides, just….,

Fortunately good walks.
Forgot my new bike had a different charger lucky we were only away for a couple of days.
Well we arrived at Cap D Adge and Sedge had forgotten to pack any knickers,
Didn't think they were a requirement at Cap d Adge. 🤣

Best one was in our tugging days, I said to Mi I've packed the fridge.
We arrived at a site with 2 hungry kids, Mi looked in the fridge and said "where the food? ". Food! It was man packing there was beer, tonic water, gin, white wine & ice cubes, what more could you want.

We went on holiday to Tenerife once and my wife forgot to pack me any trousers.

The shops were very limited and in the end I had to buy and wear these God awful linen things that fat Greek men wear.

I do my own packing now

Not in the van but I arrived in Barcelona on one of my girly trips with Claire without my pile of M&S knickers! There really is no good alternative. We went to El Corte Ingles, markets, a funny Japanese shop that did nice bras but the knickers were unsuitable shall we say :giggle: .In the end I did get a few pairs that were OK ish but binned them on our return home.

There was my stack of M&S undies waiting to be packed in the spare room.

Hi.
Called in at our Claires in Lincolnshire ( With the dog .... ). Left about 23.30 hrs and set off home to Derbyshire.... Phone call... " Have you forgotten something ?" Old " Sassy dog " ( In the avatar ) had come out from behind the settee.... blinking away and wondering where we were... ( 30 miles away. :ROFLMAO: ). Happy days.
Tea Bag.

When we used to caravan the number of times we forgot pillows is unbelievable. We ended up keep buying new ones after the first night of folded up clothes/jackets! After about half a dozen times we just left the pillows in the caravan - why didn't we think of that earlier, LOL!

We have duplicates of everything. All bedding, toothbrush, jackets, hats, shoes etc.

We simply empty the home fridge to the van fridge and pack suitable clothing.
At a push we can roll out of the house with 30min notice.

I'd like to say nothing. I wrote Mind Maps to ensure all would be safe. Until I forgot one Mind Mind and went without my underpants. When my missis stopped laughed she took control for the future. I'm now on pain of if I leave her any time. I did get some new underpants.

So do we now!!! Only have to pack clothes and empty the fridge and we can be off like you within 30 minutes.

Went away with a group of friends , each providing a nights meals. Checked with John that the car boot was empty before we set off.
all eagerly awaiting the salad and chicken for the first night, where was the chicken, you guessed it was a garlic infused one too my car stank for ages.

There is an emptying point in Carndonagh also one at the Buncrana aire by the tourist office.
The Singing Pub as well if you're near there.

(The fish and chips is good!)

Us too. It’s the unexpected things, like walking boots on a walking holiday, that trip us up.

Pre Motorhome , went to Wales to do an Enduro race and forgot the tent peg, had to go 30 miles to buy some.

The plan worked then

First ever trip we left all the food at home in the kitchen. Only realised after we pitched up. Site was in Wales in the middle of nowhere so a dedicated trip was required to replenish stocks. Got home to some rancid milk.

Hi folks.
For many years we kept a small notebook in the dash. As we drove up the M20 past Folkestone on our way home, we would make a note of anything we had left behind. Maybe spare tea towels or something simple like that.
One year, we left the port as usual, out came the notebook and the boss asked what we need to note. ‘Driving documents,’ I said. ‘What!’
I realised a few days into the trip, I had left the envelope with the driving documents including MOT, V5, insurance and licences, on the kitchen table. I chose not to tell anyone as I thought there was no point is everyone worrying every time we saw a police car. 🥵
We had been to France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Guess what ~ we never forgot them again!

So many things -

Camera gear on a photographic trip to the north east

Driving up the M6 to Lake District - suddenly realised I was wearing slippers, only had a pair of sturdy walking boots, not great for going to restaurants

Phone - many times

I’ve forgotten the rest …

This is why I leave the van all stocked up and ready to go all the time. Immediately after the previous trip. Al laundry done and put straight back in the van. No damp problems during storage. Only need to put fresh food in at time of departure.

On one occasion, teeth! 100 miles back and 100 miles to where memory kicked in.
Just going thru our checklist now - we are off tomorrow for Germany via Le Shuttle .. 2 days to get down to the Sarf Coast … hoping to get down to Fussen , and turn for home via Triberg and Strasbourg. vet booked near Mons for the dogs worming … we’ve got 72 items on our checklist !!! And I bet we’ll still forget something……

I forgot paracetamol and my plantar fasciitis flared up a week ago, it's just about better now, wouldn't be so bad in the UK but they are €3.95 a pack here in Spain. Hey I've just realised 🤔 paracetamol is MUCH cheaper in 'rip off' Britain 🤩
Also Aneta took the picnic blanket out so we had to buy a new one €6.99 😭
Pain killers live in my van permanently in a small first aid kit. I sympathise on the PF front. It's absolute agony. I had it for four years. 😩

Maybe 45m in my case. I leave my van ready to go except for food (most of which, except for fresh stuff, is packed ready in a 'van crate' which lives under the stairs and can be just picked up and shoved in a van cupboard), water, clothes, & camera kit. My 'van bag' for clothes always has a spare pair of undercrackers in, and a wash kit specifically for the van, in case of brain fade while packing, and I have a small bottle of washing liquid so at a push can wash things in the sink!!

At least you didn't have to wear the slippers to the restaurants, Adeydub ...
I carry a spare pair of shoes since the time I had to drive four hours home in soaking shoes and socks. A not fun experience. Neurotic about forgetting my camera gear, so it's usually on a checklist I make prior to a trip.

I once forgot my electric bike's battery, and discovered that they're really heavy to ride without it. I'd've been better with my old folder.

When I took the van to the Netherlands I forgot to take a towel... Ever since, there's usually been at least two in the van on every trip.

I'm sure there's been other things which I've now conveniently forgotten I'd forgotten!

Every holiday I forget my sunhat. I burn (actually blister missing out the red stage) very badly so one of the first things I buy is a new sunhat. I do remember my factor 100 sun blocker.

Also pre motorhome, forgot the food for 5 of us, we were pretty skint so had been saving up tins/packets. Tea sugar etc over weeks. Left it in the bedroom, had been resting my head on it whilst getting some last minute stuff out a drawer. Thankfully weather was good so didn't need to fork out for days out.
Also have van, road ready apart from meds and perishables, got some clothes in but supplement depending on weather or where we are going.

This time i forgot my Nighthawk mobile router! I only left it in my car at the storage site!
I thought to myself when i shoved it in one of the cubby holes in the car that that’s a stupid place to leave it as i might forget its there!
Well yes i did forget it !
I rely on it so much as i do like to watch tv in the morning in the evening in the rain . What can in say !
My holiday over two weeks would have been better! But i still had a great time. And i will never ever ever forget this priceless to me gadget again!

Though not motorhome related, I heard a great one today.

Very well spoken lady, well known in equestrian circles (here in Norn Irn) drove about 70 miles to an event.

On arrival, was asked if she was here to watch, and she said, no she was here to compete.

Had put the horse in the horsebox. Hadn't hooked up to the car. 😬

Bet the horse was confused.
