What DC Clamp Meter?

Hi, any recommendations for a decent, not state-of-the-art dc clamp meter for checking ampage? Huge range available but unsure about brands and other criteria for choosing. Prefer it if it didn’t exceed £40.

I've got one of these. Works for DC as well as AC.

Yes, another vote for a Uni-t here, I use Fluke at work but the little Uni-t is *almost* as nice, but it's also small enough to keep in the Motorhome because you'll never know when you'll need to use it

Electrical Near Miss - Melted 80A fuse

I’m posting this for discussion as to what might have happened as a near miss on my electrical system following my B2B install I’m at a bit of a loss to be honest - so please feel free to discuss. this is an 80A fuse (bought from amazon? that i put in in place of a 50A fuse in the starter...

Nice compact size and comes with a soft case. Even does capacitance and a voltage detector neon in the jaw for a quick indication. Nothing to dislike about this model

Another vote for the UNI-T UT210E. It has a low amp range (2A) for measuring small currents, useful to find an unwanted battery drain. Compared to other meters, the 100A max is quite low, but probably not a limitation for most motorhome measurements. I have one of these, and always keep it in the motorhome. It has sockets and test probes, and can also do volts and resistance measurements like a multimeter.

Actually I have two. The first one, the display started playing up - maybe I dropped it - and I got another one. Then I dismantled the faulty one and re-seated the LCD display, and it now works fine.

Some meters are advertised as 'AC/DC Clamp Meter', but when you read the small print it does AC and DC voltage, but only AC Amps, not DC Amps. Intended for electricians working on AC mains circuits.

There is a 200 amp version but it's quite a bit dearer.
