from ramsgate, will it ever get off the ground, is it a white elephant, will it carry motorhomes, will it be cheap?

If its anything like the old Sally Viking line that used to run out of there, I think I will will give it a miss :xdoh:.

I thought it was planned to be freight
yes but how low will the sizes go , will it be taking 3.5 tonne vans.

Ramsgate port looks like it needs quite a bit of work to get it operational again, it looks very sad.

Non starter, won't happen... port is wrong, company doesn't have any [extra] suitable ferries - spending £100+ million of our money on Project Fear v3.3

Seaborne Freight will start to operate an Ostend – Ramsgate ro-ro freight service as from March, using three ships. There will be six departures a day.
Target group is accompanied freight, which means the line goes in competition with Dunkerque, Calais and the Channel Tunnel, but not with nearby port of Zeebrugge.

  • The people behind Seaborne Freight have many years of Channel ferry experience (Sealink, SeaFrance, MyFerryLink).
  • One of the ships is the former ro-pax trainferry SEAFRANCE NORD PAS-DE-CALAIS. She has been operating as FRS-owned AL ANDALUS EXPRESS between Motril and Tanger-Med, and is now at anchor near Cadiz.
  • The two other ships have not been revealed yet.
  • In Ostend the service will operate from the former TransEuropa Ferries terminal.

They could have had a manned charter at 15,000 euros a day = for three ships 16.5 million euros a year!

The former SEAFRANCE NORD PAS-DE-CALAIS was bought in 2014 for £3 million!

Lets guess how many of the directors are Tory party donors?

See my post above &
https://www.theguardian.com/politic...owns-no-ships-and-has-never-run-ferry-service

:xdoh:

"This is a company that has no ships, no funds, no identified investors, no employees and no real premises."

:xdoh:

Their website is a joke... timetables, err nothing to see here. Want a job, err coming soon...

:xdoh:

That's £13.8 million never to be seen again

So are you saying that the information in the Ferry Shipping News is all lies?
No - I'm saying it's lazy "journalism" to simply copy & paste a PR or Media press release

"DEAR GRAYLING SIR.

I HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED MANY FINE SHIPS AND WISH TO SHARE THEM.
IF YOU CAN SEND £13,800,000 BY BANK TRANSFER, THIS WILL RELEASE THE SHIPS.
THE TRANSACTION IS 100% SAFE.
PLEASE RESPOND URGENTLY."

It will take them 14 weeks (minimum) to get a licence to dredge.

And apparently £35M of civil engineering works.

So does anything sail from there at present ?

And the land in Oostende is used as a car park + storage for parts for the wind farm.
The building is an old portacabin.

Hmm, I might be wrong but didn't all those companies end up consigned to the dustbin of history?

So what makes anyone think the 'people behind Seaborne Freight' could possibly do a better job this time around?

(Not a dig at Tykatem at all - just selected the relevant line from his post!:))

Didn’t sea France fall foul of being given French goverment money so unfair competition etc, so if we give money it’s not unfair competition.

If I remember rightly the new haven diepe Route is subsided by the local council by giving money to the port of dieppe. Some get out scheme.
