- Just Starting Fifth Year
Hi everyone, firstly a shout out to the DVLA. I applied for my over 70 driving licence, to include retaining my C1/D1 categories, on 20th July and it has arrived today, pretty good performance in my view.
However, my birthday is 7th October and the new licence has an expiry date of 2nd August 2025. I assume that the licence was processed on that date this year and expires 3 years from then so I have already lost 2 months and 5 days of my new entitlement.
We usually take a 6 week road trip to France and Spain during September and October (to recover from 6 weeks school hols grandkids care) so I started the application process at the beginning of the 90 day period in the hope of getting the license in time, which has happened.
This is not a complaint but just a heads up for those approaching 70 who really need to have the full 3 years on their new licence.
