Christmas dog ban
Dec 16 2008 Liverpool Daily Post
A DOG rehousing centre is closing its doors over the festive period to prevent people taking an animal home as a Christmas gift.
Dogs Trust Merseyside is asking people to think twice before buying somebody a dog for Christmas, and is reissuing its famous slogan: “A dog is for life not just for Christmas”.
The rehoming centre, in Whiston Lane, Huyton, will close for almost two weeks to stop people taking a dog away with them.
However, people will still be able to visit the centre and reserve a dog, but will not be able to collect it until the New Year.
Manager of Dogs Trust Merseyside, Georgina Lowery, said: “It is vital people think about the years of attention and responsibility that dog ownership involves.”
