Weight of Coachbuilt v PVC

Just as a generalisation which tend to be heavier, ie which has the greater payload a Coachbuilt or a PVC of the same standard of fitting and size.

So imagine each would have an awning, but no more extras. Not looking for model v model comparisons, just a sweeping generalisation.

Specs and thus weight from what is onboard vary widely. But as coachbuilt are wider vehicles, I'd expect them to have slightly less payload, as they'll have had greater space for more fixtures fittings and kit., and even larger tanks

Autotrail publish a tech spec checklist that does indicate this
 
Depends on what PVC donor vehicle you use.... Ford.. MB.. Fiat..Renault....front wheel drive.. rear wheel drive.. dual rear wheel drive.. length... height... engine...gearbox etc etc. They all have different kerb weights and therefore different payloads.

I'd say - in general terms - on a broadly like-for-like basis, a pvc is heavier.

We've hade both, plated at 3,500kg GVW. But the coachbuilt had at least 250kg more payload.

Eg our previous van a 6-metre Chausson S2 weighed circa 2,750kg.

Whereas, our 6.4-metre pvc (although slightly longer, similar area footprint because it is a foot narrower than the coachbuilt) weighs circa 3,000kg. [no awning or solar panels on either].

Four motor homes back we owned a Swift Bolero 680, if I remember it was approx 7. 2 mtrs. Loading it with all the bits and pieces one needs and other bits “ just in case” we were often some 50 - 60 kgs over it’s max of 3500 kgs.

Our PVC at 6. 36mtrs, a bit shorter, but loading with much the same items as in the Bolero , on our last visit to a weighbridge we were 3425kgs.
We always travel with a half tank of water, approx 20ltrs more on the Bolero, both have/had two 110/115amp batteries, standard fit 100watt solar panel on PVC added on the Bolero. Our V Line has 16inch wheels/tyres whereas the coach was on 15’s so that makes thePVC a bit heavier.

The main thing we find is that one has to be a lot tidier in the PVC and maybe packing outdoor kit has to be a system.
