Hi all, whilst in lockdown thought I would look at the air heating in our Chausson Suite Relax. We haven’t had to use it much as tend to camp mainly in South of France ( not for a while😳). However when we have put it on heating is fine, but the noise is like a jet engine taking off both on heat up and cool down. Before start tearing it apart has anyone had this problem and if so what does it need to solve it
Thanks and take care all

Has it so the silencer fitted? I have one on my boat and fitting a silencer did make a huge difference- it is still noisy though

it will always make a noise......but as mentioned, having a silencer on the exhaust AND the combustion air intake will make a big difference.

ours was the same, found it either got better as time went on or we bcame used to it.

They are noisier than gas heaters but didn't find it excessive on my Trigano. I prefer them to gas as they use diesel from the tank and fitted externally use less space.

Had this on a Aututrail brand new van we bought, couldn’t stick the noise especially the situation of the boiler
Our solution was- sold it after 8 months 😱🤷‍♀️

It's is the nature of the beast, but rocket mode only last for a few minutes on startup and shutdown and unfortunately there is nothing to solve within the heater.

Quick glance underneath and can’t see an intake silencer so will get one ordered👍
This was so noisy it drowned out any conversation so must be the silencer

GeoffChausson have you checked your heater intake pipe as my Chausson (2019 -530) has a silencer fitted to the end of the air intake pipe. This must have been factory fitted.

We have a Webasto and it has both silencers but just occasionally it has gone into "turbo mode" and makes the jet engine sound I think you are describing. It happened first after a campsite electrical failure sent it haywire. It was cured by removing all three of the fuses which caused it to reboot when they were replaced. There should be three fuses, take the smallest out first and put this back in first.

Thanks all will try the fuses as well, but this has always been noisy. We have had webasto heaters on the last two vans and were not as noisy as this.
Have checked the inlet pipe and nothing on the end, might have fallen off 🤷🏼‍♂️
Will update when I fit it, might have to wait to get fuel as not sure if below cut off level.
At least it’s something to do 😂

Price was a lot less than I thought it would be, will be checking under the MH for space to fit it.
Chinese silencers are a load cheaper......but the effect they have on noise can vary.

I’ve use a few on various Chinese heaters in vans, but the MH has a Eberspacher in it with an Eberspacher silencer on it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one already under there, with just a tail pipe visible, when you have a look.
