They will all smell in this hot weather. Double up on the fluid you use, bio washing tablets or toilet additive, that will help, In the longer term fitting a SOG extraction system will help.

Hello and welcome 👍🏻. What chemicals are you using?

Inside the loo can be cleaned much like your one at home, but with a nod to the plastic if it is not porcelain. Then every now and again you need to remove the cassette and then from the outside, thoroughly disinfect the hole it sits in, then clean the interior and exterior of the holding tank with a strong disinfectant and let it dry in the sun. That should work (y)

In very warm weather empty the cassette as often as possible (y)

YES (y)
Not like when i left my van in storage for a month in Benidorm during August and had forgotten to empty it after the trip down.:doh:
Empty when you can in hot weather.. :whistle2:

We have just moved to this instead of bio washing liquid

it is designed for RV black and grey tanks , but am sure it would work as well in a cassette

we have now got odourless black abd grey waste 👍

it really is close to a miracle cure 👍 not cheap at around £30 from Amazon but will do dozens of black and grey tanks so even more cassettes 👍

Another top tip is to clean the toilet bowl thoroughly and then wax it with good quality car wax. It stops unwanted stuff from sticking to the plastic at a cellular level.

Once a year or more often if heavily used, fill the cassette with hot water and white vinegar mix to dissolve any limescale deposits and other encrustations. Leave it to work overnight ideally and then empty as usual and flush with clean water

We thought our cassette had started to smell. We'd be driving along and get a whiff of sewer. Turns out it was coming back up the plug hole from the grey tank, not the cassette. We Puriclean'ed our fresh water, then ran it through into the waste and let it sit there for a day. Problem solved.

I use a jet wash on the inside of mine, after 8 years use though I did buy a refresher kit which is the cassette and new seat.

As said on here, empty everything every day (that’s black and grey)
Then give all the ‘sanitation fittings’ a spruce up daily with the pink stuff
Waxing the inside of the thunder trap does bring a new dimension to Motorhome detailing but it does make sense

I wonder if it works so well in a black tank because not emptied so often and has time to do it’s magic. Cassettes get emptied and usually rinsed out every day. The chorine in the rinsing water might kill the bacteria. I know there is no need to rinse but I do.

You may find the smell returns after you have emptied your grey waste.
The suction from emptying can remove the water from the sink and shower traps allowing the "pong" to waft about the van.
We run the taps or use a bottle to pour water to replenish the traps after dumping our grey waste, it doesn't take long to remind us if we forget.

and make sure it is blue, not green.
Do NOT use blue or anything with formaldehyde in as it will kill all the culture that breaks down matter in septic tanks stone dead which a lot of sites especially those that are not on main sewers use.
Blue needs to be banned

good logic but if I still had a cassette I would be using it, plus as a few of us have mentioned , the grey can smell as bad , so would definitely suggest for that 👍

I think singles especially may get more than a day out of a cassette, particularly if it didn’t honk 😁👍

Perhaps an opportune time during this hot weather to mention removing the seat and cover of the actual toilet and have a good clean around the hard to get at areas around the hinge pin.

The plastic isn't very flexible when cold (hence the warm weather note).

Demonstration here...

Amazing the build up that can accumulate here.

I use this foam cleaner in the toilet bowl, just leave it and the plastic comes up like new.

You could also change the seals, not sure how many but certainly the blade and I believe there is one on the push button too. Videos on youtube will show how its done.
