Hi all, a complete novice so my question might be a bit silly, apologies in advance. Pump was running fine then I got a leak under the sink. I sealed it-solved that problem. However since the pump has been running intermittently but only to the sink. It runs fine to the shower. Any ideas what could be wrong and thanks in advance for taking the time.

Is your system operated by micro switches in the tap? It sounds like it, and the microswitch in that tap isn’t working properly or you’ve disturbed it’s wiring whilst fiddling.

oh sorry I don’t know what a micro switch is. It’s just a fl ok up tap and turn left or right for hot cold water

Underneath the tap , has it got a couple of wires, if so it’s possible a broken wire in the tap.

Two types of water system. One is where the system is always pressurised and the pump runs to top up the pressure when you run a tap. Like mains water at home.
Other is when each tap has a switch in it to get the pump to run. Just look at the taps. Do they have wires under them?

Does the tap that works stop the pump immediately or does it run on for a second or two? If it runs on its likely to be a pressure switch system. Although the fact that one tap does not work suggests a tap switch problem.

Is the case that you can currently turn on your kitchen tap, and no water comes out, BUT, if you leave that tap open and open another tap water will come out of both taps?

If that is what is happening, the micro switch in your tap, or, it’s wires are the problem. As you have recently fiddled under the tap you may have disturbed the connections.

sincerely thank you for the help. I honestly haven’t a clue. Firstly yes you are right I do have wires under the tap. Secondly I have only one tap it’s a turn system. Thirdly, the pump is needed to get water flowing. However, we are getting a slow flow and then proper gush and back to slow again, matching the pump kicking in and out.

It is a pressurised system , try Unscrewing the nozzle on the end of the spout as it could have debris restricting the flow of water

Pressure flow systems often cycle if the flow isn't high enough to support the pump. When sealing it, you may have partially blocked a passage causing a lower flow rate that causes the problem. You should get the same behaviour on the shower if you only crack the valve open a little.
