All the gear, and no idea!
Has anyone replaced the crappy grey waste tap and either upgraded it with something a bit more robust or even retrofitted an electric valve? Just out for ideas cos my waste is so slow to drain off it’s embarrassing (no it’s not blocked)! I can’t make a bigger bore outlet in the tank as there no inspection hatch to put a threaded bigger bore in. So I’m gonna make it a bit better or go electric dump if that’s possible, what would I need and where to buy it from?

I modified our grey waste tap as it was taking forever to drain, but now it drains the grey waste tank in no time at all.
Our van is an Elddis 175 so you probably have the same waste tap as we had.

Scroll down to post #1075 and it explains what I did and links to what I used.

I've recently replaced the original steel ball valve with a new one, the original lasted 11 years. The new one should see the van out as its even better than the original, cost £12 about three years ago.

This my main 40mm drain It should be available from a good plumber suppliers--

But I'm also about to fit an electric solenoid valve into the side of the tank. Only 25mm but it will drain slowly.

I've stolen the 12V power from the thetford loo and mounted the switch into the surround.

I fitted same 40mm valve to my Hymer as the inboard valve was a pain to use, new valve was less than a tenner, works fine.

Why not fit a 40mm one as you have a 40mm pipe?

Where would you buy a 40mm solenoid valve and how much would it cost? How much current would it pull at 12V? I'm in no rush for this drain to empty ;)

CAK tanks may do one otherwise have a look on German eBay I think they are around £120 -£140.

I fitted a valve with a remote control. The best update to the van so far, no more bending down! Best £102 I have spent on the van. Been in use for one year with no problems.

What fittings would I need to incorporate the valve into the grey 28mm waste pipe, and do you mount it tankside or at the edge of the van? Sorry to sound so thick??
