We are now on our third twirly camper fold up washing line. The aluminium poles are thin walled and get destroyed by the screw clamps and the plastic fittings are cheap and doomed to failure. I have searched for a decently constructed version but they all seem manufactured down to a price. I am minded to just get some substantial new tubing and simply remodel the current one. Or can anyone point me to a well made version?

Lakeland usually have decent quality merchandise, no experience of their washing lines though

Could you slide another tube inside the existing item to reinforce it?

Even most domestic washing lines, including the quality Barbarita washing lines have a rather shoddy piece of wood stuck up the base of the main post to reinforce where they are most likely to snap/bend.

I thought I would just get a thicker walled tube from the local metal factors and modify to suit if I cannot get a more robust unit. The principle is great but what do you get for £30, a consumable!

Had one until it broke didn't get used much are you can't really use them on most Aires.

Now use one of these very lightweight aluminium airer holds just as much as the small rotary line. Got it in a German Motorhome dealer.

Something I’ve found useful is a pull out line in the garage. Ours is fixed to the ceiling in one side and pulls across to the other. It has 5 lines. I find in winter it’s great as the heating dried things and in the summer, if you open both garage doors, you get a through drought which dries clothes quickly.

I also have a bog-standard rotary line which has survived 5 years or so.

Wilco do a strong foldable one

I've had a rotary drier for 6 years now and a couple of years ago the plastic screw started to lose its grip and the washer lines at the top would fold down under a heavy load. I drilled two holes just underneath the screw bracket and now use a bolt which stops it collapsing though that won't help you if it's the pole itself that's collapsing. Mine's still going though..
