The dustman on his rounds told us to wash our hands. As he pointed out, he may handle up to a thousand (?) bins a day and if only one person in a thousand had the disease, that would be enough to justify washing our hands after collecting our bin.

In our area if you leave rubbish inside the bin wrapped in plastic bag, they refuse to take the bin. A council worker came some time ago, saw we had trash inside a plastic bag, he told the dustman to leave it ( teaching us a lesson?).

And they leave ours if it’s not bagged.

Our dustman left our garden bin last week because it had potatoes in  where the hell do they think potatoes come from?

I still have to go into the bungalow next door, my neighbour is in her 80's and I have been treating her dog's ears and getting shopping for her. I am careful and we keep to the 2mt rule, but I wash my hands very thoroughly when I get home.

Being retired nurses we’re not washing our hands much more than normal, though we are using wipes etc when out and about. We have used hand moisturiser for years because of dry hands through washing.
In the NHS infection control is paramount and drummed into you, we were regularly checked on hand hygiene.
It‘s irresponsible and uncaring for people not to take hand hygiene seriously, it’s not just you it’s what you pass to others.
The Ex-Gasman You should be washing before you go into your elderly neighbours house, not just when you get home.
BusyBuilder We must be “very precious” then.

I do, I'm washing my hands a lot lately, I am also aware that even though I am being careful there is a greater risk of me passing it to my neighbour than she to me, as she rarely goes out at all.

I was brought up in an era where we washed hands, After using the toilet, Before Meals, and if we had been playing or walking the Dog, add to that I never handle food without having washed my hands anyway. It becomes something you do not think about. A the moment I also wash on entering the house (say) after doing shopping. although that is currently problematical. We have been trying to get a delivery, But the Major supermarkets are no longer registering. The one account we have (Tesco) is booked out until the 10th of April. So much for Priority for "At Risk" and over 70`s then?.

Maybe thought you were growing them in the garden bin to save going to the shops (y):rofl:

Having worked in the electronics manufacturing industry for donkeys i have always washed my hands before using toilet and eating (heavy metal and other chemical usage) let alone after.
Now even wash each time i walk in through door.
But the soap i'm using at home is really going for my skin.
Aqueous cream no use, now trying sudocrem and cos im worth it
Garnier hand repair intensive restoring hand cream (in cupboard) or was it because the wife is worth it.
