On the attached photo, does anyone know if the button to hold the trim in place is a hammer in thing or screwed in with some form of concealed head ? IMG_20201217_125952.jpg

unlikely to be the actual fixing, just an upholstery button. Expect a combination of industrial velcro and a few keyhole plates rebated into the back board of the upholstered headboard or panel

As above.... But you could try turning anti-clockwise.
Some fixings like that have a thread down the middle of the fixing screw then the button is threaded into the screw.
Finger and thumb then press as turned.

I had a go at this "button" today. It is like a big nail with a small pin sticking out the back. It would have been possible to prise it out, but I found that the trim it looked like it was holding on was actually glued to the wall and the button was just for show. So gave up on that idea.

The button will be held on with a pin and attached through a hole (loop) on the rear of the button, press the surround down and there should be a pin or a split pin holding the button on, remove pin and voila ! The fastening will be attached to the back board in the van, do not be tempted to cut as you will never be able to replace!

Not on these. I decided I would not be beat so prised out the button. Underneath is a screw which holds the trim in place. The button is only to conceal the screw.

Sorry can't help you there never come across that but would suspect that it might involve taking off the back board first and then the decorative fastenings!
