Hi just a note to see how many of you like me are waiting for there motorhome or campervan
I ordered a campervan in 2021 for 2022 it got put back to 2023 then 2024 so canceled order, then went to the show at the NEC in October 2022. first day ordered a Adria twin 600 for March delivery 2023 got put back to May, now put back to July, with no confirmed date as yet, looking at all other dealers time slots most are August/September or even early 2024
unforeseen not knowing it would be this bad sold my motorhome and now really frustrated I can't be the only one in this situation, are we ever going to see our motorhome or camper van and at what cost

It seems to be a very common problem, they simply cannot build the base vans fast enough. There is quite a long running thread:

I have never really thought of buying new, but if I could get exactly what I want I might'

However this waiting game of maybe 18 months totally puts me off at age 81.

If I did order I would make the delivery date a condition of the contract.

I decided to buy another van for work, interesting thing was there isn’t a single new Fiat Ducato available at the moment, apparently the new engine doesn’t meet emissions standards so I was told .
That surprised me as I always believed that whilst the Germans got caught cheating the tests , the Italians probably paid not to do the test at all 😂
Bought the Citroen version of the van as there was a couple available, going to hate it but it’s a box to put stuff in basically, can’t sound any worse than a Fiat surely 😂

It's been almost a year since we put down a deposit on a dealer order Carado MH, I was pretty much aware that
I would have to wait at least a year for delivery if not a lot longer re the info I was getting from this and Carado specific
forums ...the price of our MH as gone up £8.5K ( based upon a "AS" like for like order that I can order now from Carado direct today )
our dealer has been reactive rather that proactive in supplying information re supply dates ...
I'm not in a hurry but the inability to organise my life going forward is a tad tiresome

Interesting post. We ordered and Adria Twin 640 at Birmingham in October 22. Delivery was supposed to be June/July 2023. It's now down for September 16th 2023. We have a guaranteed price so I'm not too worried and still have our current van with an excellent trade in price.

Hi Wheelnut
I would never ever buy a new MH for a few reasons

1 If you purchase a nearly new van then the previous owner has almost certainly ironed out the sometimes numerous problems Believe me they ALL have them irrespective of Manufacturer
2 Usually it makes financial sense as bought from a Dealer you will be paying a premium
3 A van 2/3 years old low mileage say 3/4000 miles with good service record there are plenty of these around and can be 10k cheaper than the new van
4 There is no waiting for delivery especially nowadays 2/3 wait is not unheard of

I have bought 2 nearly new vans with this way of thinking and would never buy new I am only trying to be helpful not a kiljoy

Good luck

I went to view a new Adria in February, got told that the backlog in Fiat base vehicles was due to a couple of big name delivery companies putting in massive orders. Don’t quote me on this but between them it was either 90k or 120k base vehicles. Needless to say the Motorhome market will have been put on their back burner 🤷‍♂️

Hi what you say makes sense but never really had any real issues with new MH. I don’t know when you bought your last MH but if you are looking at the moment for a second hand MH low mileage expect to pay the same price they were New or More I sold mine for what I paid for it and with what’s going on at the moment people unable to get new vans like me are willing to pay I did look for a second hand van but had no luck the vans I did find that suited me were sold and at high prices I just have to grin and bear it not nice I know ☹️😤things could get worse by the end of the year wish you luck if you’re looking 👀 at the moment

Yup.Waiting since Oct 21 for a vehicle the dealer ordered in May 21.It might turn up this June/July.Only positives are that the bank loan I took out at a low apr to cover the difference between the px and the new van, will almost have been paid off by the time it arrives and I'll have 18 or so mths x £200 of costs not incurred on campsites and diesel etc to pay for accessories. If an when it turns up it will be the only new vehicle I've bought that immediately increases by over 20% in value 🫤

Yup.I was looking at 2nd hand options recently and would be paying 20% more for a compromise.Nearest new option was a Mobilvetta P80 (looked nice) at 25% more but I was off by the reputation and 1st hand experience of the sole distributor dealership.E en started looking at an IH680 on a Crafter but looking at £110k plus to my spec with insufficient storage for my needs.

We purchased our 'new' MH last August (Burstner Lyseo TD680G with 9 speed auto). Our first MH, never even had a tent, let alone a Caravan before. Admittedly it was an emotional, jump feet first sort of thing At £86k it was a big jump! Have often wondered if it was the right thing to do. This was on the back of a last minute decision not to go ahead with a holiday home purchase in Spain (Brexit making the whole issue much too complicated). The MH was not technically new, the importing dealer had registered it and then sold it on to another dealer with 250 miles on the clock (demonstrator?). Anyway, have spent another £6-7k on tracker, Thatcham alarm, rear semi-air, uprated front VB springs and Honda 125cc for rear garage. I don't know if it's actually increased in value but I wouldn't be surprised. I failed utterly in knocking a single pound off the asking price with the dealer telling me that if he didn't sell it to me he would sell it to someone else next week. At the time I thought this was Salesman hubris. As a newbie I had no idea of the state of the market. Now, if we were looking to buy new, I suspect we would give up and just save the money instead. I feel for everyone who has made the jump and are now twiddling their thumbs awaiting delivery.

Thanks for all your replies so far, lets hope things get better. What gets me MH manufactures still advertise new vans saying what a wonderful way to travel and places to see knowing full well you can't get one at the moment if you ordered one now till 2024 if your lucky, with no mention of any delays. Some car manufactures wont let you order a new car and will stop making certain models because thy can't cope with the backlog of orders and will restrict there range. All you waiting you have my sympathy, me I'm fed up thinking I will lose a summer waiting with no van. I will have to make the best of it for those with vans have a great summer

Sounds good to me. If you have a motor home you are happy with for the time being and want a new one in 4 years, then
1. Order a new one today and pay your deposit.
2. Use the one you have merrily.
3. Don’t chase the delivery.
4. Hope it is 4 years late.

You have a agreed trade in price for your old MH that is now 4 years older and hey presto a new 2027 van at 2023 prices. What’s not to like.

Hi Soycd, I was interested to see if you did have a guaranteed price? as we ordered our Adria twin SGX in August 2022 and were told 3/4 months delivery and sold my Swift MH to a friend in March this year. Long story short i was told that in wouldn't be hit with the price increase over the past 15 months but when i went to see it last week only to be told that there was a price increase and that i would have to pay the extra as the price had gone up since i ordered it and this was the first time they mentioned any increase.

Yes we have a guaranteed price. Having said that there was an increase but that was a Fiat issue with the LED headlights meaning the retail price of the Fiat Luxury pack went up. We were given the option of either paying the increase or cancelling the luxury pack. We went with the increase. Ours is now due 17th January.

You would think so. For the first time for a while there are dealers offering substantial discounts on new stock, £13k off a new Chausson 640 anyone!!

I’m interested in knowing if this is a UK/RHD issue as in the last year or so wherever I’ve been in France dealers do not seem short of new stock and in particular PVCs. Strange world at the min.

Huge sympathies for you. Like some of the worst things that come along, it is exacerbated when it's out of your control. I hope you get some good news soon.

Touching wood here, I feel so lucky we just rocked up at a dealers and bought what we wanted for collection three weeks later.
Yes, second hand, which some people don't want, but have you considered it?
Best of luck anyway.

I’ve never had a brand new van before. We’d always bought 6 month old ex-rentals (5 in total) in Germany. Benefit was all the niggles had been ironed out and the discount was very good.
