We ordered a new Ducato based campervan August 2021 for delivery March 2022 then the delivery date was pushed back to September 2022 then again to March / April 2023. After visiting the Motorhome show in Birmingham yesterday doubts were cast even on that date for delivery .
Is there anyone else in a similar situation ?

One or two have judging by the couple of hundred replies in this recent thread.

I got my AutoTrail van last November after a 2 week wait.

It appears that Adria is moving all its non pvc main line vans away from FIAT to Mercedes from 1 January.
I believe that is because of lack of availability.

It looks like Dreamer (Rapido sub-brand) are launching vehicles on a Ford Transit basis. Apparently the Transit is harder to work with, but they are also more available.

The Fiat van (Sevel) factory went through a large overhaul at the beginning of 2020. There was a design refresh, but there were also lots of changes in the factory to take advantages of the aligned brands (now pretty much all are Stellantis owned). This was planned and restricted their output while they geared up the refreshed lines. Then the pandemic hit and supply issues has massively knocked their production capability. The secondary effect of the pandemic was campervans became far more popular... as did getting all your consumable crap being delivered by vans instead of going to the shops. So it probably took them a lot longer than planned to get the lines up to speed, there are still supply issues, and demand also increased, making backlogs even longer. Perfect storm.

Also new work vans in demand because of new LEZ Zones popping up all the time.

I live in the CAZ in Birmingham. Several of the delivery van companies have gone totally electric. Most of the Amazon, DPD and TNT are electric Sprinters, Transits or Nissan e-NVs.

We do still have a few 'independent' delivery drivers that I guess to contract work for the likes of Amazon. One drives a 25 year old Transit that's absolutely knackered. Smokes along on 3 cylinders most of the time. Rusty as hell. No handbrake. Sounds like the clutch is on its last. I asked him about the clean air zone charge... he said the van cost him so little, he just pays the charge every day and it still works out far cheaper. I have no idea how he's getting it MOT'd!

Bet it wasn't a factory order to your spec.

Hymer now only make two A Class on a Fiat all the rest Mercs.
At Caravan Salon they were quoting March/April 2023 delivery for Merc, Nov 2023 for Fiat.

Yup. Took over a pre existing dealer order on a Rapido A Class. Exactly same position as you. Interesting to hear what prospective purchasers of new vans at the show are being told just to secure orders.

Goodness, this thread will be saturated with our tales of woe...

Me - Adria compact supreme dl, original order July 2021 for December 2021 (160bhp 9 speed auto) after being put back every 6 to 8 weeks now predicted end of December 22, not confident that will materialise.

Not in the same situation, but relevant to the overall supply situation in the industry. At the NEC show yesterday, we took (a nosey academic) look at the new N&B iSmove. I asked about delivery and was informed they have been told to say “2024”. When I asked about price fixing for certainty they glazed over and bumbled a meaningless reply.
Thank goodness we are not looking to buy.

Didn't need to be, it came with everything I wanted as standard. Uprated engine, 160bhp, automatic, solar panel, twin TV points with aerial, built in 7" sat nav/entertainment system, reversing camera, automatic headlights, wipers, heated seats, carpets, side door fly screen, etc. :giggle:

At Dusseldorf then Adria had a MAN based PVC concept for the Twin Supreme, so prob not switching this to the Merc Sprinter. Anyone who's been to NEC know if this concept van for Adria is there? Peter Vaughan at MMM has the MAN chassis as his favourite for conversion.

Be interesting if Adria switched to MAN and if current orders which were priced on a Fiat become a lot more expensive as think MAN based PVC's are more expensive.

With some of the Adria Twins now at £80K+, I dread to think what they would cost on a Merc or Man.

I did say Adria NON pvc switch to Merc,
Did not know about the possibility of pvc being on MAN, it’s does not look to be for 2023 deliveries,

Yeah, when saw the Adria MH's moving to Merc then assumed that the Adria PVC's would be Sprinter based so was surprised to see the MAN concept for their Twin's

I think Servel are struggling with orders of all models.
I don't think right hand drive models are at the top of their list.
I think that they may also be e struggling for auto gearboxes now they have increased the Euro of 6 engine's HP.

Ours was ordered Sept 21 for March then May then Sept I rang them the end of Aug and they said Burstner had to go away and come back with realistic dates based on current supply not just pick the out of the air
They said ours will be built mid November for delivery December
We shall see though I’ve seen 23 models advertised so can’t be far off 🤷🏻‍♂️

Delays can be blamed on the pandemic and the war in Ukraine but surely a global company like Stellantis can get their act together and source components from elswhere . There seems to be no shortage of Ford Transits in van or cab chassis in Southampton docks even if the Transit is no longer made in Southampton.

I don't know the accuracy of this, but I was told only yesterday that m/h base vehicles are in short supply because Stellantis has prioritised a 100,000 worldwide van order with Amazon.

This may be correct but a friend was on the motorway heading south from Scotland a few weeks ago and passed a whole fleet of brand new Amazon vans on trade plates going to wherever. He was interested in what they were as he has a new Ducato on order with Auto Trail. None were Fiat. I think he said they were Mercedes’ but I wouldn’t swear on it now.

I had heard about this Amazon order some months back. I would presume that the 100k was all Stellantis could commit too, given they have other customers that they don't want to lose, and Amazon have had to backfill with other producers.

I'm on a Carado forum/FB page and one Brit just walked into the showroom in France and bought a V337 of the lot, only a 3 week turnaround for the paperwork to be done ...dont expect to see our Carado V337 until march at the earliest so one year after I ordered it.

Not new van related but it looks like they have serious issues. Our van broke down in France in May. Its been in our local garage now for 9 weeks. They have no idea when the gearbox part will be delivered. We have been off the road for 5 months now. Really p'd off. We have a £100,000 Carthago, 18 months old, just over 10,000 miles and we ar3 going nowhere.
