Mpp Charge Controller Votronic Duo Digital 165 Watts/250 Watt/350 Watt / 420
? I’m sure I asked this question before but my *** phone won’t find it.

- I’ve got 80w panel on the van roof (which I’ll probably increase to around 200w) - is this 250 controller anywhere near the best i can get & if anyone has one - what do you think of it’s performance?

Ive got the 165 version running a 140w panel and think its a good quality unit, can handle pretty much all types of battery. Got the display as in photo and i would buy the same again.

I have the 350 brilliant, one of the best, I had a good MPPT regulator before, this one is even better.

They don't seem to be dual battery. My present one is- Is this an issue? How do you solar charge the starter battery?

Votronic is dual output, 1 amp to the starter battery however I don't use it on mine as I already had a CBE solar split charge relay which can put up to 4 amps into the starter battery.

I’ve got the Votronic 250duo and very pleased with it, no displays but batteries are kept full.
Be careful where you fit it, if you get one, because at night the mppt light flashes all the time, which could be annoying if it’s in view.

Cheaper on Amazon:
So I can buy from a British company with full support for £107.99 or buy from Amazon using a
German company for £109.98. I know who I would rather buy from.(y)

Photonic universe have an Amazon store front so you’ll still get the support.
Their customer service is very good, answered my questions extensively when I set my system up.

Yes they aren’t cheap but does what it’s supposed to and should last a long time.

Looking to fit one of these as the van panel shows pretty lights and is not too accurate, Is the panel easy to fit? Does it just plug into solar controller?

Yes connects with a single provided 5 metre cable. I think it is a pity this cable is not an Ethernet compatible cable as these can be bought very cheaply in a variety of lengths. Not really a big problem. Bear in mind the display no longer shows that bar graph that you can see on Lenny's picture. The function has been removed from the latest controllers.

Fab thanks having nightmare working out if solar or hab batteries or rapido control panel faulty and dealer useless, unfortunately solar panels not fitted by dealer so I’m stuck in the middle ☹️

Package arrived and the cable looks suspiciously like the one that connects your telephone to a WiFi hub

Not surprised they’ve ditched it. I still can’t get the bar graph calibrated properly on my Votronic 350, had it 18 months your supposed to do something when its at max power.
With regard to the cable if you’ve got the correct plugs and a gadget to fix them with it’s easy to make your own. I’ve got the kit required but couldn’t be bothered to shorten it in case I want to move it at some point

Where would I get such a kit? Ideally I’d like to add some length

I got my from Amazon.
I can’t remember what type of plug it uses, as in the number of pins or contacts. I can’t get to mine to see the pin configuration without a dismantling job.
They have different names depending on the size so you can’t plug the wrong lead. Namely rj11 or rj45.
The reason you can’t use a standard ethernet cable is they come in different flavours, depending on what your trying to connect, as some of the wires are not connected to the same pins at either end.
So if you make your own make sure the coloured wires match the original.
The simplest way to extend it would be to cut it and splice in some cat 5 or cat 6 ethernet cable making sure the colours of the wires match.

Many thanks often the simplest solution is not necessarily the most obvious until someone points it out!!

Plugged it in and..... nothing! Presume the solar controller is at fault, instructions say either battery under 7v or reverse fuse fault
All about beyond my skills and knowledge

Did it work with the original cable?
Or did you plug it in when the solar panel was in darkness. My display goes blank at night when the controller goes to sleep

Not extended it yet, can’t remember if sun was on panels will have another go tomorrow thanks never thought of that
