Visit Liverpool

Can anyone recommend a site near Liverpool to stay and visit the city.
Happy to take a train or bus to travel in while Motorhome is parked up on site.
Preferably something within about 30 minutes by transport.
Thinking of going there around May time.

I don't know if you still can, but the Liverpool Yacht Club had spaces for motorhome parking and overnighting, so it might be worth giving them a ring.

We stayed overnight in Southport and caught the bus into Liverpool. It's only about half an hour and free with your bus pass ???

We stayed in Southport Cc site and caught the train. Seemed to stop at every stop going so maybe the bus will be a better option

We stayed at the marina three times last year. Excellent location, downside is no ehu if you need it.
Willowbank in Ainsdale is a good If you want a site

We stay at Lyons Farm near Melling and drive to Liverpool, parking in the large car park at the Anglican Cathedral. Other suitable car parks are available including the marina. I should add that we got free parking at the Cathedral because, on the two occasions we have been there, my wife was singing there ? I think the parking rates are quite reasonable though.

Another option is to stay on the Wirral and use public transport. I can recommend Fort Perch Rock car park. You can overnight there and it’s free.

Another vote for “Wirral country park”
It’s a nice walk down a disused railway track into West Kirby, then a cheap train ride into Liverpool. You can always get a taxi from the site and back if you wish. Cracking views overlooking the Wirral estuary from the camp site too.

I wonder what are all those white things circled parking at the Liverpool Yacht Club are then ?

We had that sort of response when we rang them from the stupid women that answered the phone, I asked her to humour me and ask someone in the office and she came back and said that did not realise they had motorhome parking.
