I have just purchased two Hankook batteries and a Victron solar regulator. What settings do I need on the controller?

You've not told us the battery capacities in Amp Hours. Is your controller a Smart one or not? If its Smart you can do the settings on your phone through Bluetooth. I presume the batteries are sealed lead acid and not Gel, AGM or Lithium!

My controller is set to 12 Volts and a Gel Victron deep discharge (2) charge setting. If its not a Smart controller there is a gadget in the socket on the left hand side which determines the charge setting so you need to get the instructions out to make sure its in the right place!

My Smart controller tells me that the Maximum charegcurrent is 15amps with the absorption voltage at 14.4 volts, float voltage at 13.8 volts and equalisation voltage at 16.2 volts but that Auto equalisation is disabled.

From memory the controller detects the voltage on its own but I did have a faulty one originally which set itself to 24 volts which was replaced!

Setting 3 on rotary switch will work as generic. More precise settings, will depend on your battery data.

Thanks for the help. The batteries are lead acid 130ah each and the controller is a smart Victron with Bluetooth . I have the app downloaded but could not see a setting for the he lead acid

No, me neither! Before I added the bluetooth to make mine Smart Vanbitz had fitted it so I assume that they put it on the Gel preset choice so I have left it at that rather than meddle with what I don't understand.

I've got the same but I have no idea what settings on the thing on the left so pulled it out and think that's sets it to smart

Used the Bluetooth to set battery charge and discharge from alpha battery information leaflet

So the gel 2 setting should be ok for lead acid?

Yes, look here on this table for victron. Divide by 2 for 12v system.

No, if it's in the absorption phase the current should only be about 1 amp.
I assume with the PV voltage at 49.99 you have the panels wired in series.
