Hi All,
I keep my MH in storage and recently i've found some mouse droppings dotted around the van. I have'nt had any damage as yet but i'm concerned about them biting through cables and wrecking the furnishings. Anyone got any good tips or ideas on how to keep the little beggars out?.

You cant keep them out but you can trap them. Actually I think the word gets around the mouse community to avoid the places with traps.

Peppermint oil is a good deterrent I too had an issue with mouse droppings albeit without damage. I bought a bottle from Amazon and sprinkled some on a couple of saucers left on the floor.
So far so good two years on.

I did suggest, on an earlier thread, using a 12 bore but some thought this was a little excessive so perhaps a 410.
Mmmmmm. Sledge hammer and Walnut spring to mind!.

A long time now
I bought a sonic deterrent it looks Like a hockey puck and have had no further mice visits the battery lasted about six months and a small led shows you it has power . It was about £11.00 and well worth it as we stored our van on the edge of a farm .

I store mine in a warehouse near an industrial estate and canal. I have a mains electronic deterrent that's supposed to be good enough to clear a whole house of vermin. I also have rat bait just in case (outside the van). I used to think the deterrent was working fine, because I never had any problem. However, the rats have visited the warehouse and eaten my whole stock of rat bait in spite of the electronic deterrent so I'm not at all sure that such devices work at all.
Cats are probably best.
Whatever you do, do not leave any food or strong-smelling substances (like soap) on board. Vermin are curious and will try anything once.

Electric (Big Cheese) mouse trap from B&Q! Zaps them dead. Rentokill fast acting killer (from Asda). I zapped three in concurrent nights and haven't seen any droppings since then. The electric one is operated with 4 AA batteries. Well worth £20 odd I spent. Also mice LOVE Weetabix!
I've just ordered the sonic deterrent. from Amazon £14.99. Great idea!

Ditto. We've been using these in our last 3 vans now and so far so good.

As said on a previous thread, we use a powder called Rat Repel, sprinkled around the tyres and near the fence at the back where they’re likely
to come from. It fools mice into thinking big rats are about so they keep away.

Sounds just like the one we have, can't remember now what we paid but I think it was on Ebay.

We did have a mouse problem but no sign of 'em since we got the deterrent.

1) Place a dollop of peanut butter on a house brick
2) Sprinkle pepper or snuff on top of the peanut butter

When the little bugger sniffs the bait he’ll sneeze and knock himself out on the brick, simples ?

Can't beat glue mats.
I had a mickey stuck to one corner by its head, chest and legs and wasn't wasting a whole mat so tried pulling him off...... I got the back half but the front half just wouldn't let go.
Ended up cutting around the remains.
Went on to catch another two on that mat.

I don't think sonic deterents work, visit mousetrap mondays on youtube to see what does and doesn't work, he has tried and tested just about every trap ever invented a very informative channel.

I hate vermin but I also hate to see them suffer, so I would never use gluemats in a laid up van

IMO Unless you are checking on gluemats at least twice a day they are just too cruel. A mouse could take days to die.

Better to catch them as they come in, rather than eradicate them when they've made themselves at home. but with a trap, SNAP, dead in a moment. (y)
