Variation in LPG price

This is the 'machine' I was referring to which they use to pump the LPG at BC Motorhomes! 😄

I spoke to John the other day , really nice guy , it’s taken him ages to get this off the ground and up and running.
I can see why companies don’t want to invest in electric puywhen you consider that a proper Smiths pump alone is around £3000.00 then you would need a dispensing unit and pipe work etc .
My understanding that you are looking at around £20k to install a tank with pump etc .

Yes John mentioned he'd been chatting with you. He said that Calor wouldn't consider fitting an electric type system until he's got the throughput but how he's gonna manage that with the manual one I don't know, it was okay yesterday as it was nice and sunny but when it's blowing a hoodie and peeing it down it's not gonna be much fun for the 'pumper'. If an American RV goes for LPG they'll be pumping for hours. 😄

My guy near the Crematorium in Telford has been consistently 75ppl since before lockdown.
It’s in a farmyard as he keeps retired racehorses so lots of room to move about and turn
My supplier too, and it's attended service, cash or card. They do charge extra (£1.00 / litre) if you can only take less than 10 litres.

It looks to me like he needs to install a bicycle powered pump.

Attach a bike to a parallel flywheel with an arm (as seen on any steam engine)
Attach string to top of pump arm.
How many miles do you have to pedal per litre of LPG filled ?

I'm sure the local Scout Troop or technical college or Mens Shed would relish the challenge if given a £200 budget and told they can keep the change for the group..

Looking at that, I could do that with my gas tank that I have for my house heating. Currently paying 47ppl so depending on the pump price, it may be something worth doing. Going to put a call in to Calor.

Topped up on the way back from Drax at Cheshire gas, Stockport. ( Just off Portland street) 85p per litre. Self service but the guy had to adjust the trigger on the nozzle as it was too slack..The pump is slow but ok. My van is 7.1 metres no issues pulling in or going out but a longer van may have to manoever to get out as there is a tight LH then RH turn past the lpg area.
Took 8 litres for 13 or so nights just the fridge freezer. (y)

Looks like quite a few folk around Brum still run their cars on autogas ?
For the amount we use for cooking, occasional heating, LPG price is not the main issue, just as long as I can get it.
If supply gets to be a serious problem, I'll look at these cheap diesel heaters for space heating and maybe hot water.

Like Avo we don't use a lot of LPG. Nearly all our local pumps have gone. I use a local farmer who charges 1.25 per litre. I'm grateful he's prepared to sell to the public and happy with the price as it avoids a 50 mile round trip to my next nearest pump.
